THE ASSEMBLY ROOMS DANCE CARD SYSTEM v2.0 - SETUP GUIDE "Conducted with Propriety" ======================================================= THREE PIECES 1. Assembly Rooms Board - rezzed in the ballroom (ONE per region). The brain of the evening. 2. Assembly Rooms Dance Card - FOR LADIES. A dainty card worn on the wrist. Gentlemen touch it to request a dance. 3. Assembly Rooms Pocket Program - FOR GENTLEMEN. Worn as a HUD - his private programme of the evening, showing every engagement at a glance. Ladies wear the Dance Card. Gentlemen carry the Pocket Program. A gentleman does not wear a dance card - that would be scandalous. The Dance Card and Pocket Program use the SAME script. No hover text anywhere. No MOAP. All faces drawn with osSetDynamicTextureData. ------------------------------------------------------------ 1. BUILD THE ASSEMBLY ROOMS BOARD ------------------------------------------------------------ - Rez a flat box (e.g. 3 x 0.05 x 3 m). Name it "Assembly Rooms Board". - Prim colour: Ivory / Cream / Antique White, FULL BRIGHT on. (Text is drawn in dark named colours; the prim colour is the background.) - Put inside: Assembly Rooms Board.lsl (script) Ball Program (notecard - copy from Ball Program.txt) Assembly Rooms Dance Card (the ladies' wrist card - Copy/Transfer) Assembly Rooms Pocket Program (the gentlemen's HUD - Copy/Transfer) - The board reads the program, draws itself, and says "Assembly Rooms Board ready". OSSL needed on the board: osSetDynamicTextureData, osMakeNotecard OSSL needed on cards: osSetDynamicTextureData ------------------------------------------------------------ 2. BUILD THE LADY'S DANCE CARD (wrist) ------------------------------------------------------------ - Small flat box, ivory, full bright. Name it exactly "Assembly Rooms Dance Card". - Drop in Assembly Rooms Dance Card.lsl. - Set it to attach to the Left Hand or Left Wrist. - Take it into inventory and put a copy in the board. ------------------------------------------------------------ 3. BUILD THE GENTLEMAN'S POCKET PROGRAM (HUD) ------------------------------------------------------------ - Flat box, ivory, full bright. Name it exactly "Assembly Rooms Pocket Program". - Drop in the SAME Assembly Rooms Dance Card.lsl. - Set it to attach as a HUD (Top Right works well). - Take it into inventory and put a copy in the board. On the ground, either item says "Wear me to join the ball". Once worn in the ballroom region, it enters the wearer in the register and shows their programme of dances and partners. ------------------------------------------------------------ HOW AN EVENING RUNS ------------------------------------------------------------ ARRIVING - Touch the board: Ladies -> "Lady's Card" -> wear it on the wrist Gentlemen -> "Pocket Program" -> wear it as a HUD GENTLEMEN - To request a dance, touch a lady's WRIST CARD (or use Ask to Dance from your Pocket Program and pick her from the list). - Choose which dance - only dances open on BOTH your programme and her card are offered. - Touch your Pocket Program for your menu: My Card, Program, Ask to Dance, Release, My Role, Open/Close Card LADIES - Requests arrive one at a time as a dialog: Accept #n / Decline #n. - Touch your own wrist card for your menu (same buttons as above). - Close your card when you wish to rest - no further requests. ROLES (inclusive) - Every dancer may set Lead, Follow, or Either under My Role (default Either). Two Leads or two Follows cannot pair; anyone set to Either can. A lady may ask a gentleman, and any two dancers may pair - the ballroom judges no one. MASTER OF CEREMONIES (board owner + MC names in the notecard) - Touch the board -> MC menu: Start Ball / Next Dance - advance; announces the dance and the couples in local chat, and privately tells each dancer their partner Prev Dance - step back (no announcement) Announce - repeat the current announcement Open/Close Requests - pause all new requests Dancers - list everyone, roles, dance counts Reload Prog - re-read the Ball Program mid-ball Reset Ball - clear everything for a new event Guest Menu - the MC's own dancer buttons Editing and saving the Ball Program notecard reloads it automatically. The ball saves itself to a "Ball Save" notecard every ~15 sec of changes, so a board reset or region restart picks up where it left off. ------------------------------------------------------------ ETIQUETTE RULES ENFORCED ------------------------------------------------------------ - Only dances after the current one can be booked - Each person is in at most one couple per dance - MAX_PER_PARTNER dances with the same person (default 2) - MAX_DANCES per card (0 = no cap) - Roles must pair (Lead+Follow, or anyone with Either) - Closed cards and a closed MC take no requests - Unanswered requests expire after REQUEST_TIMEOUT seconds - All replies are private (llRegionSayTo) - no public rejections ------------------------------------------------------------ BEFORE YOU BOX IT FOR RELEASE ------------------------------------------------------------ - MC menu -> Reset Ball, then confirm the "Ball Save" notecard is gone from the board (otherwise buyers inherit your test dancers). - Dance Card and Pocket Program inside the board: Copy + Transfer. - Leave the sample Ball Program in the board. ------------------------------------------------------------ CHANNEL ------------------------------------------------------------ Board <-> cards use channel -77310. If you run a second Assembly Rooms Board in the same region, change BOARD_CH in BOTH scripts.
