I have had Thousands of USD sent to me via Paypal for more years than I can count. Paypal works always :)

Same however, the past 2 years they have been going a bit crazy with legal changes. I recommend searching for an alternate like I did Joe. You will be blindsided one day and it's one reason the IRS is now arming their agents with .40 cal sub machine guns and buying 5 million rounds of ammo past 2 years. Minimize what you have pass through your bank accounts or you will be put through audit hell and probably at gun point, in the not to far future at this rate.

Most of women avatars in opensim don't use voice because there actually Dude's why ruin the fantasy. Honestly does it really matter in the virtual world of make believe.

That old trope about virtual world women being men... I'm sure there are some in Opensim /Second Life who play as a sex other than their RL sex, but as you say, what's the issue? However your basic premise is somewhat false as anyone can use voice morphing technology to change their voice.

The fact that there is free speech is perfect for any platform. If one has issues then by all means let us all know what to expect or not. You can't please everyone there's issues everywhere. I run 2 grids myself I also been in opensims like forever :) Personally I find DreamGrid to be a perfect solution to solve all the drama of grids owned by others who may think there better than the rest. Over pricing I do find horrible way to take advantage to us poor folks who can't afford SL prices. Servers are cheap enough out there, No need to have 1000 regions LOL unless you have the bodies to fill them. Open space of vast land in moronic at best, False advertising with claims things work perfectly is also a thing that should never be spoken. Blocking people for voicing opinions on a grids performance is profound. Anyways good luck to the parties concerned..

and that's exactly the point, I want to remind you that I am not biased, but I have shown that both technically and knowledge-wise I know enough (how many here knew that Fred has his own dedicated page in the SL wiky and I think this page is still there? and he is a former Linden contributor? that says a lot about his enormous experience).

I am not biased, I mean, DreamGrid I prefer it albeit in its limitations, because a program in VB.NET that starts one C# cannot be the pinnacle of perfection, but it is egregious work, and Kubwa's work is also good however only German as an end user language, DreamGrid is more complete, but they are similar products and both good. (I would not use them for me personally but I appreciate them and they are good).

I understand that maintaining a grid has HUGE costs for those who use proprietary or leased servers, but if you ask me for $50 a month, making me believe that you have the best grid just for a full control panel, and if you put me 200 EMPTY VARs to do territory, and you don't hold them up with the virtual servers you have created, well, you are not offering me a good service, you are taking a lot of money away from me.

The argument is that it seemed to me, excuse me for quoting it, that I was reliving the time when Avitron was writing similar nonsense in HGBusiness... "The Best Technologically Advanced" and then $35 contabo servers, now I don't know how they are doing Avitron doesn't give a damn, but before contabo vps had and sold regions... shoddy.

So yes, if I cannot pay even one region in a good grid, I will use private regions in OSGrid or Other similar grids or DreamGrid.

That's the way I think about it.

Y Engine was developed for the Physics Engine UBODE. X Engine is for Bullet. As far as llsleep best remove it from script if you have issues.
AFAIK they are separate subsystems. There is no reason why Y or X runs better / worse with ubODE
like(0)
The Y engine was designed and implemented by Ubit who is the designer of UBODE to improve the Physics Engine. Bullet is a Robert Adams invention that uses X engine :) UBODE Physics is best or close resembles SL scripts. I use both in my grid being some things run better on Bullet while others prefer UBODE. Best to use whats best for your application that uses Physics.
But physics are unrelated to the scripting engine. Both scripting engines can e.g. set the physics parameters of any physics engine.

If a big if that's the case why many having issues with mix match of engines vs. Physics. Half the time I don't argue with Ubit i'm just a poor mule?

It's a little odd for me that this conversation is happening now. When I finally settled in Opensim 5 years ago, the grid I was on was already using ubode and within a year switched to Yengine. There were some really old Xengine scripts that broke on some users regions that took a little work to sort through, but the few scripts I used the grid owner rewrote for me. All of the grids I'm on now, with the exception of Kitely, have used that combination for a long time. Additionally, all my spacecraft dating back 3+ years use ubode and Yengine and have had no issues in that time. Been very happy with the combination.

Many of us who run simulators have been doing so for several years. When I started hosting my simulators Bento had not come out yet. You had a choice of ode or bulletsim and Xengine was the only script engine that I am aware of... 0.7x was being phased out in favor of 08x ... I refused to upgrade to 09x until it matured... Remember the memory leaks, @Opensimworld? You will have people who are hesitant to upgrade and there are plenty of valid reasons for it.

The first Opensim grid I joined in 2018 was run by retired IT professional Bill Blight, and he was already using 0.9.0 at that time. Every time Ubit had something new, he and Bill would get together and load it into the grid, then ask me to tell them if my store broke or not. It was wild but fun. For a while, Bill even had his own version of the Firestorm viewer that I loved called Openstorm, but then he had a heart attack and decided to retire from grid hosting altogether. The current NGC development group has his mindset, and I love their willingness to be the first to step into the unknown. I'm on three of their grids now.

Funny how some people worry about Pirated Avatars, Clothes and hair, But are willing to fill there regions with Copied items from SL like Homes, Trees, Ponies and all the rest of there decorations. Makes ya wonder what the hell are they thinking..Sounds hypocritical to me.

And the correct way would be what?

Shut up, drop that butt-ugly legal crap, bot the living hell out of SL, deck yourself and your home out with the latest, greatest stolen stuff for free and attack other people who even think about preferring something legal over something illegal because it's legal for "starting drama"?

Sure, ideally you'd only use legal content. But this isn't always possible because certain things have yet to be made in and for OpenSim. Why bother learning Blender and how to make your own photo-realistic textures in GIMP just to create something that's already availabe as stolen SL payware which everyone prefers anyway?

And I dare say that if you have a 100% legal avatar and a 100% legal home, you'll be attacked and ridiculed even harder than if you only have a 100% legal avatar. Because you're a wimp. And because you're obviously too dumb to find and use the "good" stuff.

I guess people go to SL and copybot park benches just so that they won't get caught using the one from Arcadia Shop. Or, worse yet, the one from Clutterfly. Even though the one they've just copybotted doesn't look any better.

I'm not really complaining. I know copybotting and pirating isn't likely to end over at Open Sim, though I wish it would. Some of the innovations that had their start in Open Sim are also in SL these days. I just like to change it up a bit as far as my avatars are concerned. I really don't have a single, identifiable look and that's how I like it.

Point taken, it's fair. Just remember, we wouldn't be here in the first place if LL didn't release enough of its code to the open source community back in the mid 2000's, thereby creating the base of what would become OS as we know it. :)

My thoughts exactly. Have been saying this for years too, when I see one complaining, about copying.

There are many people here who are high caliber scripters that know I know how to script very well. But you are just picking to be picking... So you will argue over nothing no matter what I say or do. So let me pick my pearls up out of the mud and be on my way... c'ya. :)
