I read your profile and I apologize for my earlier comment. My concern would of course be what other folks do with it who are not Romani. Blessings.

A lot is written in the media but not everything is as they write it and I can only say that in my environment the Roma do not see it as a swear word and we are proud to be gypsies ♥

I think there are a lot of good grids out there. If Wolf Grid calls to you, awesome. My post is more about the legacy of OSGrid and having empathy for the folks dealing with this gigantic thing.

Also, I think it needs to be acknowledged that if something actually does happen to make it unsalvageable, that would be a loss for the whole Opensim community. They were the first and there's a lot OpenSim legacy we all owe to OSGrid.

I think this is the thing. People are realising that there is "history" dying here.

However, OSGrid will survive. They will wipe the assets and restore OARs. Some things will restore ok - especially regions that had OARs from BEFORE this all happened. Same for IARs. A lot of content WILL Be restored after it "starts again". If I understand correctly - it will be a restart of the grid, people will be able to start up their regions again and connect with the same permissions etc. However, their inventories will be empty and regions will be blank. After starting their regions they can start restoring OARs and IARs.

Of course, everyone will do this at the same time which will slaughter the new asset servers - but thats inevitable. The grid will probably be rather slow for a while while its restoring. My suspicion is that so much will be lost that probably half of what was there before will actually be restored. Clearly OSGrid wont be "the same place it was".

Personally I have some avatars there that I have had for a lot of years and have not recently done IARs so I know I am losing some of my own history there. No point being too upset about it though - it is what it is.

What WILL be good though - is almost certainly some regions may be "dumped" that havent been updated in years and are just there "because" - probably good to just get rid and that's likely to happen for a lot of those. Also assets that are no longer in anyone's active inventory won't need to be taking up space. Long term this is probably a good thing.

As I've seen one other person point out - OSGrid IS ultimately the Open Simulator "Test grid" - it wasnt really designed as a "working grid". At least it used to have all kinds of warnings about "this may not be stable" etc. I think it's done really well over the years - even if I may not personally agree with some of the decisions taken by the management team.

On the other hand though - I think what people are finding frustrating is that OSGrid admin team are not really that communicative. We got the notice they were doing an asset reset - in about a month. Almost straight away we got a "we're putting a hold on that - we may not need to", then that message was pulled and there is no longer any record of the "we're not doing it yet". People dont know what's happening and I think that is what is causing some frustration with the OSGrid management.

Just me 2p worth :) Ultimately it will happen as it happens, yelling, screaming, tears or tantrums wont change it - we just have to live with it :)

I have been using Canva for years and rely on it daily it is my go to for all my ads and such. What is also cool is the apps they have, to use also like AI apps or Logo apps. Only problem with Canva is I am not using my PS as much, I still do for clothing templates but not for ads.

You know it's nostalgia. Many of us began our OpenSim migration there. It's the first and the oldest. I don't think we need to compete in this virtual life. I hope we all make it. I hope they can recover some stuff and make people happy who didn't have backups. Not because they are negligent just because frankly...life happens. And sometimes we don't have backups. We've all been there. Again, I hope we all make it:)

I'm finding I backed up tons of my Osgrid assets long ago. So I'm looking forward to all my assets actually rezzing in the future.

There are a lot of really good things about this region. It's beautifully landscaped and a very well crafted build. I realize the goal here is an "historical" region depicting Indigenous peoples pre-contact. Some of these depictions have some problematic stereotypes. Please be advised that the word "squaw" is a horrible racist and misogynist slur that has been used with great harm to Indigenous women and girls. There is an NPC on the region in several locations called “Indian Squaw”. It would be much more respectful to give the NPC an actual name and personify her like you have on many of the other NPCs.. Maybe also reconsider referring to the Indigenous inhabitants as “Indian/s” unless it is a word you have the personal cultural context to reclaim. Not assuming anyone’s heritage. And if you’re not a builder from North America, you may not be aware of how this stuff lands for folks in this part of the world, particularly Indigenous folks and those who walk alongside.

I rarely use a mesh avatar but on the odd occasion I do and hypergrid I use a version of my skin that has built in underwear so if things load slow I would never be fully nude in public. Knowing this is a thing, it's possible to prepare.

hg.osgrid.org:80:Sunred Mall is the old big LK Mall that has all those boardwalk booths in the furniture section and even in the buildings room the big box of all thinsg boardwalk. I also noticed a cool game booth on sketchfab: https://sketchfab.com/search?features=downloadable&q=carni... The Water Gun Fun Carnival Game Low Poly. 4th one on the right on that page.

Darci, I technically have lots but my region where I was planning to share them is a bit messed up right now. A bunch of my boxes were suddenly empty. Working on repairing that before I reopen it. What grid do you call home so I can try to toss you some when I get organized?

Passed you a box Darci. Most are skins as part of complete avatars. If you were looking for textures to mod, let me know. I will need to take a bit more time but I could pass some too. The OSAvatars skin textures and Splendor are in there as textures though I think. Also try on Outworldz. There's a whole section for skins and Fred has the Eloh Eliot files which are a base for many I've modded and honestly some of the best bases in virtual worlds: https://outworldz.com/download/

I still need to do a lowered version of the standing desk with all the props. I'll give you a heads up when I get to it. I conked out after doing the raised version....lol

@HarperHeld Both locations are now updated with a sitting version of the sit stand desk. The lowered version also has a bonus mug.

Hi Tay,

What is the era of your region/s in time?

I'm not going to remotely assume anything about your cultural heritage and the words you chose to use or reclaim. As a white settler with the privilege to live and work on Turtle Island I am going to use the word Indigenous. I have some modded modern day Indigenous presenting (keeping in mind that not all Indigenous folks "look" Indigenous in the same way) NPC people statues on Birch Grove. I would strongly prefer they not be altered for other eras or themes but if your region is modern day feel free to come copy/buy for 0.

If your region is historical.....maybe if you could please share some context so we can answer with the most relevance.

Victor D'Angelo has a ton of buildings like that. Different ones on his different regions:

A few of my buildings are free on my region but go to the version posted and then map hop to the Birch Grove Spring if you don't want the winter versions of some of my buildings set free to copy or buy for 0 : hg.neverworldgrid.com:8002:Birch Grove Winter
I have a sweet Chinese restaurant and a pub in the mix. My municipal building with the clock tower is free as well as the train station. Some othere are not free because I'm still working on them ot they're very specific to Birch Grove. But for the ones that are I try to also have most or all of the interior furniture etc availabel too. Let me know if anything's not set right permission wise and I'll fix it up if it's something I made/found full perms.

You've probably scoured all the other zoos listed on here eh? There was one with lots of animated animals awhile back. I can't recall if they had giraffes or the name of it.
