To all the role players out there, we are opening many of our public regions to role players to use as "sets" to film their role play. Perhaps you have a story to tell, but you don't have the time, or perhaps not the skill, to build a fitting "set" for your role play scenes but would LOVE to film your characters in action. We have multiple types of regions to use as your backdrop from the Ancient BC Era to Futuristic Sci Fi and they're here for you to use in creating your video. If interested just message me here and we'll discuss it. Blessings and much love, Lavia.
While SL embraces PBR in an attempt to embrace greater 'realism' using the increasingly creaky old technology we’re all familiar with there is a backlash among Generation Z and other younger demographics towards cutting edge gaming with hypereal graphics and an embracing of older, less graphically real aesthetics. Some of this may be down to the fashionable adoption of retro, as in the numbers buying things like typewriters and traditional film cameras, but is some of it also likely a backlash against the increasing trend for hyperrealism where it’s no longer really easy to spot something real from recorded game action.

I am not a gamer, hence there have been a few times when I’ve been watching videos purporting to be actions in the current Russo-Ukrainian war where the game graphics have been so good that they appear to be real, it’s only when one looks more intently that it becomes subtly obvious that it’s recorded game action and not footage of an actual battlfield encounter.

I’m aware of arguments that the graphics of SL/OS are ‘poor’ but I have never agreed as this is a very subjective area depending on so many different factors, such as the comparisons being made. Relative to Minecraft and Active Worlds the graphics of SL and Opensim are fantastic, but compared to a photograph or the hypereal renderings of high end computer graphics, very poor indeed. Personally I rather like the aesthetic of SL/Opensim and would argue that the aesthetics are neither good nor bad, but exactly what they are. I’m not arguing against hyperrealism for those who want it, but rather agruing that the current graphics are regarded as fine by the vast majority if those who use Opensim and SL.

This article in today’s Guardian prompted me to write the above after last week I read something about the implementation of PBR in Second Life. Sometimes maybe, less is more, and if the aesthetics of retro games are appealing to Generation Z and other demographics younger than the average found in Opensim, then maybe there is hope yet that our hobby will endure. After all, Active Worlds is now nearly in its 30th year, has a very faithful and dedicated community together with graphics that make Minecraft look good!

En route to the Sugar Shack
Enjoy the spirit of Spring

A stunning render of Fantasy Land, a quaint and whimsical village of mushroom houses. The scene features adorable, colorful houses with mushroom caps, each with unique architectural details. An inviting pathway winds through the village, leading to a cozy-looking central gathering spot. The soft, glowing sunlight creates a warm atmosphere, and the surrounding forest is filled with vibrant flora and fauna.

Hi Everyone , just a post for new people. I run a few free malls within Neverworld Advantis , All Free Shopping Spree , Free Port and have a hand in many more places . We try to keep alot of our items full perm . Plase on any sim you are visiting remember when you click on a vender that item has to be sent from the grids server you are on to your home server. If you click to fast walking around hitting everything like machine gun kelly all that will happen is scripts will stop working and servers will stop communicating . All we ask as sim owners is take your time you do not want to crash sims or just not receive items.

SheaButter: Those network cables are like a freeway, with cars travelling that road. Some are going north, south, east and west. If your in Canada and item is in Europe, it has to travel over that water. lol. I a... 1 month ago
I repaired MAHJONG by Xylor Baysklef. The amazing Xylor made this years ago, and it was broken and stopped working. I just went through thousands of lines of code and fixed all 13 broken scripts. Now it will work in dreamgrid or anywhere. :) I'm leaving it at cyberdatastorm.com:8002:SandBox This is a fun 1 person or multiplayer game and it is very advanced and sophisticated.

The first ever Monthly Social for Wolf Territories Grid is today at 11 am grid time (pst) at Luxor in the Lotus Club, and teleport routing will drop you right there. This is a great way to meet residents on the grid and get to know one another and share stories. Greedy tables are set up courtesy of GMInteractive and there's a dance floor as well.

IndigoQueen King will be our DJ for the event which will last 1 1/2-2 hours but everyone can stay as long as you like. Voice will be on for those who prefer. The Luxor region will also be open for those who want to explore together - tour boats are available in multiple locations and hold up to 4 people including the driver. The event is listed on our WT website here: https://www.wolf-grid.com/ under the Events tab, and in the Destination Guide in world.

Here's the limo: hop://grid.wolfterritories.org:8002/Luxor/539/534/97

It took me about 3 years and 3 grids to finally get this castle built. Starborne Keep will take some time to explore. There is so much to see in The Land Of Xzar, plan to stay awhile. Please, don't just stand there and cam. You won't hear the sounds of the land and you won't see the details. You can get a notecard with Landmarks to help you get around at the landing. Use them, walk around, explore. If I am on, say hi. Strangers are only friends you have not met yet.

EUROPA, the SIM where rumors swirl as Bill Gates mysteriously insists on selling Windows OS with a syringe, sparking wild conspiracies about hidden microchips and secret vaccine updates in every byte!
Last week's Inworld Review looked at how Mumble could be a good alternative to Vivox, as both Jeff and Cyb have mentioned here on opensimworld in the past. Here's a bit of a deeper dive into the different ways people could - starting today - use Mumble for Voice. By snowbody Cortes

CyberScan Scanner. This device can listen for hidden 'microphones' placed on your sim to spy on you. It scans the channels you select with a frequency you input. If people are chatting in local chat and the scanner has a hit, it will let you know. :D Now available at Wizardry region. Open source as always so you can modify the code, god mode it, whatever you want to do. :) It is also a very powerful tool for scripters who are creating devices that use channel communication, as it allows you to listen in on what your LSL scripting is actually doing. :)

JayR Cela: hmmm.. this is very interseting. I am not concearned about hidden microphones or someone spying on my private chats, however I can see some possible usage in other situations trying to debug certain s... 3 months ago

LE TERRACE- THE only Alien places where one can play greedy, sip an alien coffee and have a view from Jupiter.

Another demo of tidal water, so this stream appears and disappears depending on the height of the tide. 99% of the regions on our grid use tidal water and there is a server that keeps them all in sync. You could have a castle with a tideal area around it that sometimes is under water and sometimes is not etc.
Harmful Paranollas
I'm writing here because they don't even let me defend myself. Today I found out from a friend that a certain Cyberglo says that I am a certain Priscilla. Totally false. Not content with that, he has publicly exposed my IP and named the grids where I stay. Exposing an IP publicly goes against data protection and privacy. I implore this website to remove this information immediately. I don't care about the rest of the crazy article, since nothing is true and I have nothing to fear. He is a harmful being.Excuse my google English. Thank you.

A great alternative to vivox is mumble. It's changed a lot since the mumble-whisper project for opensim back in 2010. I run a mumble server right here at my house, and anyone can connect to it and try it out. On windows just download the mumble client https://dl.mumble.info/latest/snapshot/client-windows-x64 or on apple mac download this client https://dl.mumble.info/latest/snapshot/client-macos-x64
Mumble also has clients in most linux package managers already ready to go. Mumble has super high voice quality and it's totally private. I've already used it at my grid with several people and the quality was amazing. Plus the fact the mumble server runs on a small raspberry pi at my home with zero problems. If you wish to connect to it, just use cyberdatastorm.com as the server address and you can try it out on port 64738. There are also mumble 'servers' for windows, mac os, and linux. So you can run it on something besides a raspberry pi, and have your completely secure and private own voice server. I understand a lot of people worry about vivox listening in to their private conversations. ok. Here's an alternative. What's great about it is you can play opensim with mumble in the background so it doesn't affect the game play at all, AND it's great voice quality.

I am creating a few outfits of your favorite characters and adding them to the Classic Closet store. The first one is Nurse Chapel- Strange New Worlds!

**for the Classic Avatar**

Christine Chapel-Star Trek-Strange New Worlds

https://blog.trekcore.com/2023/07/star-trek-strange-new-wo...

Strange New Worlds revealed that Nurse Chapel helped develop the technology Starfleet uses to alter human DNA to turn them into aliens.

I adore this character so much that I wanted to create the outfit for her.
Pair it up with your favorite short blond hair!
