Hi there Lavia, I visited your place today and found just what I had been searching for, some log cabin type and cottage homes. Thank You.

Hi there Essential, I once visited your very nice and impressive venue and was asked to dress accordinly, or please come back another time, no big deal. I wonder why some folks want to make an issue of nonsense, nothing better to do is my guess.

I am a lot nicer to people whom I catch in the landing room, than I am to people to land on my head or my guest's head. who think they own the place..

Hi there Milly, I just noticed the house w/working stairs and doors / LOL / that is a home I pieced together from several others and some unique tortured prims I came up with along with some mesh back in the early days of OSGrid, anyways there are numerous copies floating around it has been updated several times since the version you have. So I dropped by for a visit today of your really great place and left a copy of the current one v6.4 to an MK Scott account I saw as the land owner / I hope you got it :_)

Thanks for this post. In my recent experience I have heard some highly regarded long time OS people talking about avoiding the OSW website alltogether, because it's too toxic at times. And this is sad, because OSW has the potential to be a great place for like minded folks to share idea's, concepts, experiences and the like. And a handful of pathetic, insecure, small minded Jackasses screw it up for the rest of us. Thanks again for your post.

We have to build people up and help them ignore the toxicity so they will stay.

Yes! Just like you did with me when you came to my grid to visit then to accuse me of copying you. That really built me up!! If I do not create it myself I purchase it. I had to show you receipts to prove I had the content legally! This IS toxic and can cause people to leave! I appreciate though in your post you wish to thank creators that is kind. Oh Btw that OAR you said you purchased, at this website
https://opensim.carrd.co/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR0bLkV... , it still is not available to buy but as soon as it is I will buy it to see if that rickshaw is in it. I am curious now where you got it since you did visit me two weeks prior to accusing me of copying. And that Japanese OAR has never been for sale that I am aware of at this site you showed me. I will quote you, "I guess defending something can look like something else to others."

to reiterate i wasn't accusing you of anything, I simply asked where you got it and told you where I got mine. I had the oar up for a few days so you could see it but not sure you got that hint :). in the end you and I are all good but i wanted to make it clear i wasn't accusing you of anything, after i saw yours it made me wonder about mine and where it originally came from.

These were the words spoken to me and I quote you, " I'm not prying by no means but was thinking I wonder for the region I have who rip off who lol or if they are same person." I cleaned up a few typos but it is easy to not understand this fully.

I still have that conversation if you need clarification what you said to me, I can send it to you, it hurt me enough that I commented it here on your post because clearly you do not see what you are doing. I admire the love you want to spread, and glad to see you posting about it, but it is really important to carry that out in private too. If we were all good here I would not be commenting.

if you have an issue with me regarding this topic, feel free to private message me. your taking my words out of context. I was simply pointing out to you I have the same item and wondered who originally created it. I am sorry if it came off as something else.

You were at my place on April 11, then two weeks later you contacted me to ask where I got my things, perhaps you took a copy? You said here in your post you take things and place them about, I agree that differences between people should be kept private, but when I read this

(So in conclusion, I would like to say thank you to all creators, builders, scripters, and etc, because without all of you, my regions wouldn't look as good as they do. I may take things and place them and put them together but the credits go to the creators, builders and scripters.) I thought maybe this is what happened that you in fact copied me. The purchased kits I have I see some parts about, I guess that is how it can happen.

I have been at your places a few times, I dont illegally copy peoples creations that is very wrong. Nor do I use copybot viewers and there also banned in my grid. I only grab was is set for copy or buy. Its disheartening you assume I did that to one of your acquired items. The item in question was purchased a few years ago included in an oar on that site i showed you. It was purchased for the grid by the previous owner, when I took it over I acquired said oars.

The region the item is on that you have I have only been there once or twice that i recall. If I went there a second time it was to double check i had the same item.

Very nice / I will stop by for a visit soon / thanks / I would also like to see some full perm multi national flags of the entire RL World made available for everyone for display on their Regions or Grids.

have you tried Jimmy's massive collection of flags over on AMV?

As a follow up to Thirza's comment, I was at Jimmy's 3d Museum today where he has these flages. It is an amazing collection of flags from around the world. These flags also have a nice gentle movement. Here is the address for anyone who needs it:

It is Cybers grid, and his rules, if you do not like it, or his rules, then do not go there.

This is OpesimWorld.
Cybergrid is on other address and is accesible with other viewer. And yes missing this two is lack of intelligence and empathy.

I recently leased 2 - 4x4 regions from Wolf on Wolf Territories Grid, after aproximatley 15 years being involved with the Open Sim project, I will admit that, I have never seen anything like what I am experienceing here on WTG. Teraforming my landscapes are effortless and nearly instantanious.
I am very impressed.

Here is a funny antidote, in way back about 2007 or so, the ATI video cards were notorious for needing the proper driver patch in order to work in SL without crashing. A group of very dedicated ATI fanboys leased a region to help ATI graphic card users who were unable to log in to begin with. It became a running joke around the SL gossip community for a bit.

Hmmm... OpenGL and further upgrades, I thought Vulkan was to be the way forward and is a continuation of OpenGL and perhaps I am incorrect.

The Linden Lab devs have been talking about moving to Vulkan in the last few years. That should have happened well before even tackling PBR and 2k textures! Many GPUs as far back as the 900 series from Nvidia and their AMD equivalents are compatible with Vulkan. If that move happened first, then PBR and 2k textures becoming part of the SL engine would make perfect sense, and could be scaled enough to work with plenty of PC's. Of course, upgrades would be a likely necessity. I'm on a 1050 GPU/8th Gen i7 H CPU on a laptop and SL is kinda variable, depending on which sim I'm on. OS on the other hand is mostly a smoother experience for me. I do have 32 GB of DDR4 RAM so most of the time I don't experience too much texture thrashing... keeping shadows off is the usual thing to do to speed up things, along with 128m or less of draw distance.

This was a nice read, your points I feel are valid enough to get people to think first. The introduction of something like PBR materials also has some hidden cost's not apparent to some folks. The cost of hardware upgrades on the users part may be more expensive than worth the price. Thanks for the post.

Hardware costs are an increasingly important consideration. I find that my setup, with an Intel Core i3-3220 CPU 3.30Ghz x 4 with 16 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR struggles on Second Life these days, but performs well on Opensim. I know it's hardly cutting edge hardware, but it's now approaching the situation where relatively high end hardware is required to enjoy all the bells and whistles, which is especially problematic when many users are using hardware that's designed to web surf and watch movies. I'm fairly convinced that the reason behind the failure of Sansar and High Fidelity was partially related to the requirement for relatively high end hardware.

thanks again Maria, your article really helped the Board of Directors and the inner circle of long time residents to start making some hard decisions. It has been decided to preserve some key regions and merge into annother well established grid, outfited with a proper IT staff all ready in place. I am currently arrangeing to have several prominent OS Grid owners to appear as guest speaker for our upcoming community meetings before the grid shuts down. I hope we may meet one day, I can thank you in person.
