1- Door cannot be never used at root prim and it doesn`t necessarily be linked to any object;
2- Insert script inside door or any prim u want use it;
3- If door is closed, click to open menu and choose CLOSED, then rotate the door to open it manually (the way u want) and click door again. This time,choose OPENED.
4- Click door again and choose FINISH from the menu.. And voilà.. Nothing more to do. Door is all set up :)
