Though Joe is unaware, HyperCat gracefully asks permission before grids/regions/items are indexed and listed. Region owners must opt-in; they don't simply list every item and region without permission. I appreciate that, very much! There will always be arguments on both sides, with some folks having the opinion that all regions, items, and grids should be indexed and forced; but there is a few caveats or faults with that logic: 1) not all regions and grids are online 24/7 2) not all regions and items stay in the same place, are finalized, or are even public, on opensim. 3) not everyone wants their items shared 24 hours. i know specifically certain items where the store is only open if the owner is present. I know, i know...consent is annoying sometimes! ;)
That business aside, I want to say HyperCat is a brilliant idea, and i appreciate Kris and everyone involved in HyperCat, as well as the fact that they conduct themselves ethically and with consent. The website is wonderful, and so useful! 21 days ago - mark as helpful (3) - report |

Like I said to Kris - how on earth did I not know about this before!!?? One of the main struggles in OS HG (part of its amazing diversity, though) is finding one's way around. Many of us have always wished there was a central repository within our grids...let alone in HG! HyperCat systems captures items for sell in TONS of HG regions and centralises them into a very simple, searchable, interface. OS Marketplace you folks!
