I'm not sure how many of you will see this as I'm posting this article under my profile but I think this should be told.

Browsing this website I've seen so many beautiful pictures that would pop up so much more with minimal edits! So please allow me to tell you a couple of tricks for your pics:

1. Flatten the perspective in world.

When you take a close up of something, say a face or an object, the image will look a bit off where the central part of the image will look way bigger than the rest of the object, for example a very close take of a face will look as if your nose is bigger than your mouth! How to prevent that?

Alt + click is basically dollying the camera, dolly means you're like moving the camera physically near or father away from the subject, you need to dolly out (move the cam farther away) and zoom in, to zoom in you need to press Ctrl + 0 several times, this will flatten the perspective and the object will look way better, too reset the zoom press Ctrl + 9.

2. Frame your subject.

When you take a picture leave some space around your pic, not much but some to add negative space that will frame your subject better. If you overdid it just crop it later.

3. Color correct it.

Color correction is just a fancy way to say adjust exposure, black levels and saturation. Once you get your pic in your Gimp or Photoshop just make it as bright as possible until the whitest part is about to become completely white, in world photographs are normally underexposed: too dark. So moving up the exposure will make the pop up a lot.
However that also will "wash" the picture a bit, so increasing the black level will enhance the contrast greatly. If you don't have exposure and black levels in your program just play with brightness and contrast.
Finally add more saturation, a bit more, not much to compensate the increasing of brightness.

Congrats! you "Color corrected" your pic! here's an internet cookie for you =D

4. (Optional) Mind your corporate image.

Did you notice that all my pictures has a frame that's a gradient from black to red? It's intentional, it's called corporate image: it means that eventually your brain will link that gradient framing with Arcadia and in the future when you see any image with such framing you'll know instantly it's an Arcadia article. Invent your corporate image, water marks, graphic design, frames, special colours, etc. all of those tools will help to make your sim/shop/whatever be more recognizable for the general audience and that's always a plus.

Ok! rant's over kids, have a nice day =)
