Surfaces can look shiny, matte, or anywhere in between, depending on roughness and metallic settings. Giving more depth to the scene. Normal maps in PBR create the illusion of depth and texture without adding extra polygons. So that will help with LOD too. I chose to focus on PBR metals for jewelry first because, for jewelry, the interplay of light on metallic surfaces is critical. Jewelry's visual appeal largely comes from its shine, reflections, and intricate details, which PBR captures far better than traditional Blinn-Phong shading.

By prioritizing metals, I wanted to showcase what PBR does best in my specific use caseβ€”bringing realism and life to gold, silver, and other metallic finishes.

I am playing with Diamonds right now and I have a GLTF texture for it and it looks okay but Fred showed me how using trans, and glow settings the diamond looks realistic without the GLTF created. I tried this morning and I like the look without the texture so as with any texture creating there is fine tuning to get just how you like it. When I would create my jewelry and apply the textures and see that plastic look it took all the fun out of it. With PBR and shinier metals the jewelry is stunning. Now to perfect my diamonds, or borrow @Ferdzee's Nice work on your PBR @Luna!

Thanks Marianna! Playing with the glass/diamond look is fun :-) I used my basic silver pbr texture with high reflectivity and some transparency to achieve the effect on a statue.

When I first started creating jewelry I discovered that I could use the dingbat fonts for neat jewelry parts. You have to make sure you have permissions especially if you plan to sell the jewelry. Dingbats have all sorts of cool shapes for creating. There are a few steps to make the mesh solid when viewing from a distance. I have PBR jewelry added to the middle section of the store. I tested it in Osgrid using the FS latest PBR viewer, the jewerly is beautiful. I teleported to my 3HG using my Osgrid avatar and the metal is beautiful. Then I logged into 3HG using the PBR viewer and the metal was a bit dark so I adjusted the sky setting and the metal popped with shine! You just cannot edit the texture yet at 3HG - DG will be implemented in the near future too so the good news is the jewelry is going to look a hell of a lot better. Thank you @FerdFrederix for suggesting I give it a try.

I loved your floors they were beautiful! I loved the mirror too. It doesn't seem to cause any issues with my PC I am running along fine with two avatars logged in while working on jewelry. Dan Banner restored my Osgrid avatar (I hadn't used it in 10 years) so that I could do some PBR testing of my jewelry (thank you Dan) PBR so far is super! Just takes some fiddling on the settings to get it the right brightness and shine but I love it. I was so tired of that plastic look what a difference!
