The first ever Monthly Social for Wolf Territories Grid is today at 11 am grid time (pst) at Luxor in the Lotus Club, and teleport routing will drop you right there. This is a great way to meet residents on the grid and get to know one another and share stories. Greedy tables are set up courtesy of GMInteractive and there's a dance floor as well.

IndigoQueen King will be our DJ for the event which will last 1 1/2-2 hours but everyone can stay as long as you like. Voice will be on for those who prefer. The Luxor region will also be open for those who want to explore together - tour boats are available in multiple locations and hold up to 4 people including the driver. Many of you know I have a lot of statues in my store, but I didn't set out originally to offer them. A few years ago I wanted one for a build I was doing at the time and found one on the Kitely Market. Wanting to add materials, I replaced the base texture with a marble and realized that all that was left was an amorphous blob that barely resembled the original statue. So I decided to see if there was a better way. The resulting workflow is pictured. I start out with real world scans of famous statues (such as Hebe pictured) that are readily available, and load it into Blender. Since it had 2 million faces, I needed to reduce the complexity to 80,000 faces or less to be able to upload it inworld but still have detail for those who are unable to use higher graphics. You can see the two models side-by-side in Blender. At that point I bake the normals to replace a lot of the details that were lost without increasing the complexity, then upload the less complex model and the new normalmap into opensim. The final photo is the result.

This photo is unretouched, taken using the new midday setting. To see it this way in world, use the latest Firestorm viewer 7.1.11 then activate the left-side mirror options in the graphics settings. Original gold textures will be seen if using the older FS 6.6.17 viewer and I recommend using shared environment in that case, since the old default midday will yield the poorest results.

“I don’t want to leave,” he tried to say, as the beautiful scene slowly faded then disappeared.

Lukas found himself back at the gathering in the temple with the Amaranthine, unaware of the angry crowd around him. He felt the fog descend over his mind once more and it saddened him. Falling to his knees, he looked up into her eyes as she reached down to touch his cheek.

“Always remember, Lukas, you only see what you're looking for. When you want only love, you will see nothing else.”

I love supporting artists of every kind on Wolf Territories Grid whenever possible, and it turns out we have a few musicians on the grid that create their own original music.

One of those is BTY London, who is both an RL DJ as well as a musician. With his permission, I just added his newest song 'Dark Waters' to a song sphere at Luxor. You can hear it by the hypergates continuously playing.

Once I'm finished upgrading Luxor, it might be time to revisit this project and turn it into something really fabulous. I have some interesting ideas, including a possible Atlantis region. We'll see. This began life a few years ago as a scene concept for a chapter in a book I'm writing, then I set it aside until I could decide what I wanted to do with it.

Castles are my first love in virtual worlds and the very first object I attempted to build back in 2009 in Second Life. I've honed my craft since then and I have a small collection of them available at my stores, from the massive Caerwyn Fortress to the ethereal Castle Ceridwen.

In addition to creating things in Opensim, my other passion is a series of novels I'm working on. Here is an excerpt from one of those books titled Eos Renascent:

"There is only one moment in all of time that matters."

"And which one is that?" Kaia asked, looking into her glowing yet serene face.

"The moment of Renascence, when you remember and time vanishes, with all that it created.”

Kaia looked away, disturbed. “I thought you were here to help me prevent that from happening.”

“That is not my purpose, for that moment is inevitable and it is not within my power to prevent it. You can only hold it at bay and only for so long. The entire universe yearns for its coming and collectively holds its breath in anticipation.”

“Then why am I here? I don’t understand,” Kaia asked, holding her face in her hands.

“Nothing is required of you but your acceptance,” she replied, stroking Kaia’s long, white hair.

“But I love them,” she sobbed, “I love them all!”

“Then cherish those present moments and the love held within them, for only Love transcends time,” she answered quietly, holding Kaia close. “You cannot understand how much you are loved, for there is no parallel in your experience to help you understand it. There is nothing on Eos to compare it to, or that even faintly resembles it. Every act of love on your part will live on, and not one little smile you gave or willingness to overlook even the tiniest mistake will be lost to you."
