I'll think about it. It's part of a new area on my home region at Luxor

I understand the struggle with older computers with less than ideal graphics. After 18 years in virtual I still remember the day years ago when someone took a pic of one of my lamps and I saw glow for the first time, but when I went into my graphics settings on my laptop it was grayed out. From that point on I started gradually improving my systems a little at a time to get where I'm at now. I'm still well aware that there are some who will not be able to see everything I add to a build but hopefully it inspires them.

One mirror does decrease fps, but when I'm running ultra graphics at 179 fps the drop isn't noticeable. The really interesting discovery was that doubling or tripling the number of mirrors produced no additional drop in fps at all. To be honest, I have almost zero interest in placing out mirrors, but what pbr IS good for is much better surface lighting when pbr materials are used on objects, especially metals and floors. The lobby of my store, Lunaria Emporium, looks far better now than it ever did with the older FS viewer. You can see pbr at work there on multiple surfaces.

Yes, a mirror was the first thing I made with PBR, and it's actually a true real-time mirror, but I'm much more interested in true reflective surfaces like you see here and in creating true PBR materials. The latest Firestorm release 7.1.10.75913 has been very stable with no issues, and I find it's a lot faster than the older versions. It also handles graphics with a lot less lag since it's using multiple cpu cores for processing instead of just one. You'll also notice it is reflecting the room, and that's because I added a reflection probe inside the structure. For those still using older viewers, I still add the older textures so they don't just see white surfaces.

By the way, 7.1.11 has been out for a while. I've noticed that at least teleporting to other sims seems to have picked up speed.

I'm avoiding alpha and beta releases for now and sticking to the official ones since I'm in the middle of a lot of work. I'll play more with those later :-)

That is great to hear. A long time ago I had thought of making a mirror but then I noticed it would've been way more work than it was worth.

To test PBR, this would've also been the first thing I'd try.

I would love to see that real time mirror

We're near Atlanta so it came right over us, but thankfully it had lost some of its strength by then and we were okay. Lots of gusty rain and some flooding but none of our trees came down :-)

I got in just fine with the latest FS PBR viewer 7.1.10.75913

Ehh... ok... 7.1.10 does have the dutch angle buttons. :D (but it's good for a brave few souls to test the betas, especially in Open Sim IMO as it gives the fs devs more incentive to keep the viewer Open Sim compatible)

The Majestic will probably be the next venue I convert to PBR

I have two desktops: an older one with a 1070 card and an I7, and the new one I recently built with a 4060 and an I9. I've been able to crank it up to ultra settings and still have a decent fps, even on the older one.

This is Bastet. It's at my store Lunaria Emporium on the Egyptian area inside the pyramid, just click the Egyptian sign in the lobby to get there. There are two cats there. I'll set them to free full perm today for everyone.

I stopped building in SL for the same reason and moved all my work here. Now I have the space and freedom to build whatever I like :-)

I love all the public lands on this grid, you can literally get lost in some of them. One of the many unique things I love about this grid.
