As of today, I have closed all of my Sims; to enter them, you must go through THE JUNCTION MALL. The reason being I have been working hard on my Junction 2 to only sit and watch what happened on Junction 2 yesterday after I opened it. So instead of banning grids when 1 person has caused the damage, I will remove the person of fault, and believe me, I know all about making alts and other grids; I know all about it. But this is my way. So any sim of mine you like to enter, you will all land here and go through the doors. Have a sweet day.

Oar creation kiosk at Holoneon. We wrote an Oar archive server that's much faster than the one built into opensimulator region server, without torching the processor cores. an average region with a few buildings and furniture takes about 10 seconds to create. loaded region takes maybe 10 minutes or so. The software queues up jobs and runs two at a time if needed. Some of the speed gained is due to switching to RFC 8878 compression in our custom assetd server instead of using legacy gzip from the 90's RFC 8878 is used in OpenZFS and is much more performant than gz. To create an oar touch the kiosk in welcome and you will see a list of all your regions with links to create, download and delete oar files. This is still beta so you should test out restore on a different grid/region and let me know if you have any issues.

I posted this to see if anyone can tell me why I'm repeatedly getting this alert since I visited the region, even when I never requested that this grid be added to my grid manager. I was getting an alert from my anti-virus software about an attempt to contact this domain. Those alerts stopped after I added the domain to my block list. However, even after clearing the viewer cache, I get this alert from Firestorm every time I log in or visit another region.

What I've found out so far. "This is a classic case of a viewer (Firestorm) holding onto a "ghost" entry in its internal routing history or cache, even after you've blocked the domain at the network level (Norton). Norton stopping the connection is good security, but it doesn't tell Firestorm to forget the grid entirely. Firestorm is likely trying to "ping" or validate a destination it thinks you want to visit or has visited recently."

It's been suggested that the entry is likely now hard-coded in the operating system Firestorm config file. I'm looking into that, even when I have to wonder how in the heck that happened.

BTW, all I did at the region is use the TP board...

next version of os pricing based on cost. regions/prims/scripts etc. an average user with a region and a house cost is around $1 per month for example. v3 when i get to it will tie directly into region server to get metrics on actual use. like running scripts, physical objects, npcs and avatars

It seems about 18% of assets have null byte \0 at end of data, and the M$ XML Parser used in opensimulator barfs on it. Removing the null byte and re-saving the asset makes it good again :) purging or deleting 'corrupt' assets won't stop new ones from coming in. I fixed our asset storage and also check on new incoming assets for the null byte. I'm not sure the source, these could be legacy assets or some grid has a borked asset server or something, it's like maybe what happens if you have a C string and send an extra byte, which would be the string terminator.

I have defined 12 different exhibition series... structure sometimes is necessary... This will be a teleporter to the galleries... can be put anywhere, also on other grids to reach the different houses with the pictures... is some work to program, but once done is a very important object that works as long as you dont rename the region or move the oar.

A REQUEST, not a plea for: Opensimulator to unfreeze XEngine development. I refuse Microsoft; My servers run Linux. I remember the M$ three E's: Embrace, Extend, Extinguish; used to crush rivals. I truly believe they are still playing 'the long game' and nobody can convince me otherwise. I have regions I've been building for years that YEngine's stricter, ternary-breaking syntax will damage. I understand the pitch: YEngine tracks LSL spec syntax more closely, which helps people port scripts over from Second Life. Fine reasoning for new content. Not much comfort for those of us with years of working state built on the assumptions the 'proven and tested' XEngine let us make, assumptions the 0.9.3.0 release now discards completely, since XEngine is dropped there entirely, along with Mono support in favor of .NET 8. My NEXT donation comes when I see some love for the MONO branch. I am not rich but I am not talking petty cash either. Presently, I'm documenting the journey of coding chaos in a world that's ever-adapting. It would be pleasing to report that backward compatibility matters to somebody in the development pipeline.
