A Beautiful Poster, and an Uncomfortable Reality

I recently saw a beautiful promotional message describing Alternate Metaverse as a place of family, community, friendship, belonging and acceptance.It is a beautiful message, and for a long time, I genuinely believed in that idea too.I spent a considerable amount of time in AMV. I was not simply a visitor passing through. I gave my time, creativity, energy and commitment. I worked as staff, supported people, built, contributed ideas and genuinely believed that I was part of a community.

There were many wonderful moments, lovely people and experiences that I will never deny or forget. But my experience also had another side, one that eventually left me disappointed and hurt. I am not interested in creating drama or convincing anyone to dislike AMV. Some people may genuinely love it there, and I sincerely hope they continue to have a positive experience. Everyone is entitled to their own experience.

But this was mine.

I will not rewrite my history simply because honesty makes people uncomfortable. I know what I experienced, I know what I gave, and I know why I eventually walked away.A community can speak about family, belonging, friendship and acceptance, but words alone are easy. A beautiful welcome sign is easy to create. Creating a place where people genuinely feel safe, valued and accepted, including when their experiences are not always positive, is something else entirely.

I am not asking anyone to agree with me. I am simply refusing to pretend that my experience was something other than what it was.There is room for beautiful memories and difficult truths to exist at the same time.

Really a GRID unlike any other, spent many years between different grids, and the experience I have had in AMV has overall been amazing, which made me want to stay and be a part of it all, do come explore and check it out, it is really worth a visit, if you are looking for a new home give AMV a chance, come in with a fresh perspective!

When it comes to details Fred and Deb's Virunga leaves nothing to the imagination. I come by to leave a note or gift for Deb in her mailbox at Rosamond Halsey Carr house. Rosamond Halsey Carr (1912-2006) had a flower ranch in Rwanda,. After the genocide of Hutus by Tutsi, when 8 people were killed in her gardens, she turned her flower sheds in the Imbabazi Orphanage. She was 84.

Since that time Roz and her staff have cared for more than 400 children. Since Roz's passing in 2006, the orphanage is under the direction of Partners in Conservation and currently cares for more than 100 orphans.

Roz also wrote the book "Land of a Thousand Hills: My Life in Rwanda," with her niece, Ann Howard Halsey, chronicling her love affair with one of the world's most beautiful and tormented regions. She is also the 2004 recipient of the Volvo for Life Award.

From here, visitors can enjoy interesting views across other parts of the sim, including buildings, technical constructions and nearby attractions.

Many more ideas are still hidden away in the mind of Mike Fleetwood, waiting to be brought to life.

Fleetwood Beach is therefore not a finished project, but a region that is constantly evolving. New buildings, technical gadgets, vehicles, interactive systems and unusual attractions are gradually being created and integrated into the world of Fleetwood Beach.

That is why a visit is always worthwhile. Those who return later will often discover new details, try out new features or experience areas that did not even exist during their previous visit.

Fleetwood Beach is always changing – and there is always something new to discover and try out.

The Fleetwood Beach Promenade

The Fleetwood Beach Promenade invites visitors to explore the region at a relaxed pace and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the sim.

Along the promenade, visitors will discover various buildings, small plazas, technical installations and decorative elements that shape the distinctive character of Fleetwood Beach. Industrial details, Steampunk architecture and maritime influences come together to create a varied and atmospheric route through the region.

The promenade is more than just a connection between different areas. It is also a place to stop, observe and discover. Along the way, new views open up across the surroundings, the attractions and the coastal areas of Fleetwood Beach.

For those who prefer to explore without rushing, the promenade is an ideal place for a leisurely walk, with many small details to discover that can easily be missed from a distance.

The Fleetwood Beach Telescope

The large Fleetwood Beach Telescope is located in its own observatory and is one of the region’s special technical attractions.

Its design is inspired by classic large astronomical telescopes and has been adapted to fit the Steampunk world of Fleetwood Beach. Mechanical elements, metal structures and its impressive construction give the instrument the appearance of an old scientific machine.

Visitors can take a seat at the telescope and use it to observe the surroundings of Fleetwood Beach from an elevated perspective. They are not limited to predefined viewing points and can decide for themselves where they want to look.

This freedom of use makes the telescope a special experience. It is not merely a decorative feature of the observatory, but an interactive way to explore the region from a completely different perspective.

Anyone who enjoys technical constructions, old observatories and unusual viewpoints should definitely pay a visit to the Fleetwood Beach Telescope.

The Balloons of Fleetwood Beach

The Steampunk balloons of Fleetwood Beach offer a special way to explore the region from the air.

Visitors can choose between two different experiences.

There are player-controlled balloons, where you take the pilot’s seat and fly the balloon yourself. You control its altitude, direction and movement. The deliberately slow and slightly delayed handling gives the impression of flying a large, heavy airship rather than a fast vehicle.

If you prefer to relax and simply enjoy the view, you can take the automatic balloon tour instead. The balloon follows a predefined route through Fleetwood Beach, allowing passengers to enjoy a comfortable sightseeing trip without having to control the flight themselves.

This way, every visitor can decide whether they want to be the pilot or simply enjoy the ride as a passenger.

Whether you fly on your own or take the automatic tour, the balloons provide a unique view of the buildings, landscapes and attractions of Fleetwood Beach and are one of the most enjoyable ways to explore the region.

Fleetwood Beach Open-Air Area

The Fleetwood Beach Open-Air Area is a spacious outdoor event space and one of the region’s central meeting places.

Beyond the stage itself, the open-air area is also a place to meet other visitors, enjoy music and experience events together in the atmosphere of Fleetwood Beach.

Fleetwood Beach Shop

The Fleetwood Beach Shop is an exhibition space for unusual objects, technical gadgets and special creations from the world of Fleetwood Beach.

The building is designed in the characteristic style of the region, combining industrial elements with a more restrained Steampunk look. This makes the shop feel like a natural part of the environment rather than just a conventional exhibition room.

Inside, visitors can discover scripted objects, interactive systems, vehicles, technical tools and other ideas developed especially for OpenSim.

Many of these objects originate directly from projects that are developed and tested on Fleetwood Beach. The shop therefore also serves as a showcase for new developments, experiments and unusual technical concepts.

In addition to being an exhibition space, the Fleetwood Beach Shop is also a place for freebies. Visitors can regularly find free objects and small extras to take home.

Anyone who enjoys experimenting, building their own regions or simply looking for new inspiration should definitely stop by.

Explore, try things out and maybe take a freebie or two with you.

Fleetwood Dance Club

The Fleetwood Dance Club is the place for music, dancing and Steampunk atmosphere on Fleetwood Beach.

The club combines industrial architecture with a more elegant and less overloaded Steampunk style. Metal, warm lighting and technical details create a distinctive atmosphere while keeping the feeling of a real dance club.

Inside, visitors will find a spacious circular dance floor, a DJ area and plenty of room to dance, meet other people and relax. The architecture has been designed to give the club its own character while still fitting naturally into the world of Fleetwood Beach.

Whether as a stop during your exploration of the region or as a destination for a longer evening, the Fleetwood Dance Club is a place to meet, dance and enjoy the atmosphere.

The Fleetwood Beach Monorail

The Fleetwood Beach Monorail is more than just a means of transportation – it is a small attraction in its own right and offers a unique way to explore the region.

The gondola travels automatically along a predefined route through Fleetwood Beach. It follows a series of waypoints and stops at designated stations, where visitors can get on and off.

During the ride, you can enjoy the region from an elevated perspective. Buildings, plazas, technical installations and other areas of Fleetwood Beach can be discovered comfortably from the gondola.

The railway has been designed to match the style of the region, combining the idea of a classic monorail with the mechanical and industrial atmosphere of Fleetwood Beach.

Simply take a seat, enjoy the ride and experience Fleetwood Beach from a different point of view.

I don't understand people. Someone gets a region for free so they can build a shop for themselves. Then they start creating alts to manipulate the statistics and generate fake visitors for themselves. When I point out the problem to them, they pretend not to understand what I'm telling them.

I've now made the decision that nobody gets free land anymore.
