Well… we all have to start somewhere. I wanted to start off with a bang. This is something I’ve slowly been developing from the ground up. It’s basically an OpenSim version of CasperVend. It’s certainly not a competitor, since CasperVend was bought out by Linden Lab, but I kind of figured—why don’t more people use this instead of marketplaces if they want an in-world store? You know, to sell self-made things if they don’t have a marketplace and prefer the old-school way.
Like CasperVend, this includes product redelivery management, redelivery terminals, and a web-based management portal, as you can see from my screenshot. Everything is shown: the user’s name in-world, the item they purchased, revenue management, etc.
At first this wasn’t web-based and was entirely done from in-world, but with the tools and the innovation, it can now be hosted on my own web hosting service—or server, I should say. It’s as easy as dropping in your delivery server and your vendor script, then adding each product. It’s been a pain, but I finally managed it, and I hope to add so many more cool features like blacklisting, setting the amount available, and much more.
Anyway, I’ve got a ton more, like a TV and a breedables system, and so on and so forth. The possibilities are endless, and I just wanted the bragging rights for doing this all by myself, I guess. Well, you get where I’m going with that. People can create a ton of things, and best of all, none of my stuff costs a single cent. Why? Well, OpenSim is meant to be a free alternative, so spending money is the last thing I want anyone to do.
Thanks for reading.
