Deepseek R1 is the Chinese open source LLM which shocked silicon valley. You can run it locally on your computer without internet connection and get also API to connect and develop it on your computer by yourself for all tasks you may want it should do. Right now DeepSeek is the best AI you can get as open source local usable AI. Here a description how to do it. It is working fast even without super Nvidia GPU graphic card and it doesn't need much. Much less than all other as hardware resources.

You can also get DeepSeek with GPT4all and you don't need to have any skills. There were first some problems but now with newest GPT4all it seems all is fixed for DeepSeek.

The big advantage of chinese DeepSeek AI is, that it is open source, you can run easily on cheap computer locally without internet connection and is better than all other LLMs at the moment. You get also open source API to connect it for any task. All for free, without key or any registration.

To be fair, using something like GTP4all you can use other LLMs as well; that's what it's made for (hence the '4all' :)).
Being open source is only an advantage if you can modify and rebuild Deepseek (or any of the other LLMs) which I'm not sure if that's possible with any of them.

GPT4all is no LLM itself. GPT4all is a surface and you can put in any LLM. The advantage of GPT4all is that it has own open source API and you can directly feed any LLM you use with Docs. You can modify if you are skilled and coder. But it is perfect for anyone who is just a user and is no expert.
You get different versions of different LLMs for every need. In different sizes. If you have a cheap computer you get matching sizes also for this and it works. Also for Deepseek now. That's the big advantage.
