You may know this, but perhaps others could find this comment helpful. And, to them, I say "Warning, practice this with a few items first before you mass edit items". Also, check other's comments on this. I may not have been able yet to update this with corrections.
So, here goes...
MASS EDIT PERMISSIONS
I have my region divided into large themed parcels. I go to each one, then...
1. Open the Firestorm "Area Search" window.
2. Go to "Filter" tab
3. Select "Current Parcel only"
4. Go to "Find" tab
5. Use the "Search" button (leave all of the text fields empty)
6. The Tab automatically changes to "List" and shows every item on the parcel
7. Assuming you want all items to have the same permissions, select all of the items on the list.
8. Right click on one of the listed items and select "Edit"
9. The Edit window opens with all items still selected
10. Change permissions.
Other steps I take...
MASS EDIT PERMISSION TO COPY (revised 12/14)
1. Follow steps 1-9 above.
10. If the "Copy" check box has a solid check mark in it, click on it to clear it. If only some items are set to copy, the check mark is greyish. Click on the box to set the check mark solid, and again to clear it.
This prevents anyone from doing a mass cluster copy of your items, which I understand causes a strain on the server and may even crash it. Also, I understand that assets transfer better when hyper-griding when you purchase the item rather than making a copy. So, if you want someone to get an item, set it for sale or to "buy".
MASS EDIT FOR SALE ITEMS
These next steps will make sure that all of the selected items are correctly set for sale.
1. Sort the list by price. Make sure that you intend to activate the "L$" hover cursor to sell them. (If not, see step 3).
2. Select all of the items,
3. Go into Edit mode (step 9 above).
4. Make sure all are set with the "Next owner" permissions you want. (I set them all to full perm) .
5. Click the "For Sale" check box to clear it, then again to select it.
6 Set the price to "0" and mode to "Copy."
MASS EDIT "BUY" ITEMS (revised 12/14)
You can set items to "Buy" and avoid the "L$" hover cursor. This allows people to interact with the item normally. For example, you can touch the dance ball or an item you want to sit on without triggering the "Buy a copy of" window. The purchase of these items is done by right clicking on it, selecting the "More" option, then "Buy." This turns your entire region into a store of sorts, with working models of items ready for people to buy.
1. You are setting everything for sale. Everything in the "Area Search" window will then have a price. To sort those you want with a "L$" hover cursor, preface their name with a ($) for example.
2. Then, follow step 2 in "MASS EDIT FOR SALE ITEMS", but select only items that do not have "($) in the name.
3. The final step is to then change the "Click to" option from "Buy" back to "Touch."
4. Check to make sure what you want to have the "L$" hover cursor does, and that the rest can be purchased by right clicking on them, selecting the "More" option, then "Buy."
Again, practice this with a few items first before you mass edit items. Also, please comment with corrections and I'll update this.
