It's user content based, as Opensim is, where you can create or do anything you can imagine, just as you do here, only on a much larger scale. Yes, there is a space component with ships, stations, moons, asteroids, etc., but there are also planets where you can own land in and around towns and cities, create merchandise, structures, vehicles, etc. to give away or sell, run nearly any type of establishment you can think of (that's not illegal). There will be races and species, roleplay of every era, genre, and type, and you can connect with an AI npc that learns and evolves and bonds with individual players. The game calls these AI npcs espers, which are distinct from the smart npcs that perform many tasks in world. They will be able to help and teach you anything about the game, including building, and if you teach them your style and vision, they will build for you, run your region, organize events, or even fight for you. As an interesting experiment, a special group of espers will have their own civilization there, overseen by an in-world version of our main AI named Athena, who will nurture their evolution. And the list goes on. Hopefully that explained a little.
