eva Nowicka' custom works: the 1999 Morgan 4/4 1.8

I've seen this car on many grids... and it's always looked the same, so I set out to recapture its unique style. In fact, even its name, because I haven't seen the correct one, as it appears under multiple misnomers, including:

  • Oldtimer Black
  • Tilbury Roadster 1985 - Red
  • Triumph CCI Racing

After careful internet research, I discovered it's a representation of the Morgan 4/4 1.8, possibly the one manufactured between 1998 and 1999. Therefore, the correct name is this: 1999 Morgan 4/4 1.8. Here's a photo of one of those objects that appear on so many grids (many of them made by or for car enthusiasts) and how it looks after my customization:

Old & new

It's incredible that no one has "fixed" it after so much time on the grid, because the errors are clearly visible:

  • - The size: I like to adjust the objects (and avatars) to their actual sizes, to those indicated by the interface... the size difference is clearly visible.
  • - The most outrageous thing is the position of the steering wheel (admittedly, I've seen photos with the steering wheel for driving outside the UK, but the model is clearly for British roads).
  • - The wheels... given how the wheel object was made, it was decided to use wheels from another vehicle, although the original spare was kept. With a little skill with the script, the original can be used.
  • - It's not clearly visible in the photo, but there is a second exhaust pipe on the right side... I haven't seen any data indicating that the Morgan 4/4 had two exhaust pipes, although in later models the pipe was moved from the left side to the right.

With the cosmetic corrections made, it's now time to start working on the engine (i.e., the scripts).

I have a minor moral dilemma regarding my customizations: many vehicles aren't original OpenSim creations, but rather imported from Second Life using well-known methods. This is especially evident in the case of sailboats or some bikes, which haven't even bothered to hide the name used in SL. In the case of this car, I don't know if it's an object imported that way... (there's one in SLMarket, but I don't think it's this one). If anyone knows that it's a vehicle imported that way, please let me know, because I'd stop using it.
