A word to the wise... Please use extreme caution if you choose to execute the console command "fcache clear". When I discovered this command I thought it was wonderful because it would unblock the ability to tp to another grid when it became blocked because you'd just been there earlier, and the map would report "region not found". Here is the reason. While fcache clear does a great job clearing the fcache, it has some other side effects. In my case it caused a discrepancy between my mariadb database, and my rezzed world, which resulted in the items in the cache i cleared being deleted in my database. I wasn't even aware until about a week later. To make matters worse I advised a friend to use fcache clear, and it destroyed his grid. We realized what was happening and stopped using it, and the problems went away, though he was quite angry with me for some time. So if you do use it, just be aware that problems may be down the road to show up yet, including many items missing textures from your database when you have to restore it for whatever reason. So I apologize to anyone I recommended to use this function. Don't do it. It's for your own good.

Ever want to have your own Space Base? Created by @Fred Beckhusen and @Joe Builder Silent Refueling Base has everything you need for a working Space Base. There is a big rig carrying geoms. A CH-47D Chinook v1.0 USCG, C5 Galaxy, Towers, Satellite Dishes all the vehicles you will need too! When I asked Fred about it he said "What it might look launching the Valley Forge into space. The movie "Silent Running", with Bruce Dern, did not show this part. It is fan fiction, and has the same Aircraft Carrier "USN Valley Forge" they used as a movie set." Starbase - Asgard Dawn's Starfleet Headquarters has so much to offer for those truly into Star Trek and role play. We have worked tirelessly to make very nearly everything functional though, no, you can't fly the enterprise around as it's much too big, but we do have shuttles that can be flown, transporters, turbo lifts and even a working screen in the bridge. We will continue to make it better! We also have a functioning monorail to take you to the different buildings and offices. Our medical academy and sick bay both have working "surgical" hoods. Represent OpenSim in the Metaverse Standards Forum?
This may just be my opinion, but I believe that OpenSim should be represented in the Metaverse Standards Forum (https://metaverse-standards.org/) in some way.
If you're wondering what the MSF is: They try to develop and design from scratch what we've already had for 15 years as OpenSim and for 14 years as the Hypergrid.
For one, I guess nobody there even knows that OpenSim exists, not as a platform, not as several thousand virtual worlds. Even Intel may have forgotten their early engagement in OpenSim.
Besides, they could learn from OpenSim what they're bound to learn from the mistakes they'll make. And they could see what OpenSim has done right that they should do, too.
It's just a pity, I guess, that there's nobody who's able and willing to represent the OpenSim ecosystem as a whole.
(By the way, Linden Lab isn't a member either.)

I would like to thank Priscilla Kleenex (from what-so-ever-grid) for her tireless efforts in finding faulty settings on our SIMs and bringing them to our attention. I could once more fix a couple of flying trees I had unintentionally made moveable when I wanted to make them copyable. Without the help of those voluntary security-testers like Mrs. Kleenex I would never have noticed.

Shoulder-view camera angles: Looking at the world like your avatar does
We're all used to OpenSim's standard rear camera angle. A camera that floats more than three and a half metres above the ground. But seriously, this camera angle has got a whole lot of issues.
Sure, it can be practical when building. But first of all, it requires buildings which are even more ridiculously out-of-scale than the avatars created by fresh Second Life converts. Otherwise, the camera would constantly bump into the ceiling or even clip through it.
Besides, it suggests that this is your eye level. You don't see the world from your avatar's point of view. 3.60m (12') doors with handles on actual eye level or even higher don't seem strange to you at all, nor do living-rooms with ceiling heights akin to cathedrals or chin-high handrails.
Last but not least, high-hovering cameras are so 2000s. Nowadays, "shoulder cams" at the same height as the character's eyes are all the rage in video games. And you can have them in OpenSim as well.
Here are two settings I've found to work well.
