Goodbye, OpenSim. Closing "Russian Grid" and saying my final farewells
Dear friends and the OpenSim community,
The time has come for me to say goodbye. I am officially closing my project, shutting down the "Russian Grid," and leaving OpenSimulator for good.
This heartbreaking decision is driven by the massive geoblocks and internet restrictions in Russia, designed to limit people's access to information. I have tried everything to fight this. I used the most expensive VPN services and the most aggressive bypass methods available, but none of it works anymore. My viewer constantly crashes, and regions take forever to load. Instead of enjoying the world we built, my entire experience has turned into a stressful, never-ending puzzle of trying to bypass the heavy traffic filtering imposed by my ISP and every provider in Russia.
The internet is no longer free. They just give you a temporary illusion of freedom to pull you into the system, only to later manipulate your network—banning what they dislike and totally forcing what serves their own interests.
If everything is working fine for you right now, I am genuinely happy for you. But please remember: it happens unexpectedly. You might just wake up one morning and find yourself locked out of your favorite website because your president ordered a restriction on it—simply because the owner no longer aligns with their political interests.
I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has been my friend throughout this journey. Thank you for your endless support, your help, and for valuing what I did. I will always remember it. I will forever cherish all of your favorite photos and the memories we made.
This was truly my most interesting and beloved game. Thank you to my friends and to every single person I crossed paths with in this virtual world. Each of you was unique and fascinating.
I wish you all incredible creative success, health, longevity, peace, and prosperity. As for me, it is time to move on. I truly hope I will find something new to fill the void that OpenSim leaves behind.
Thank you for everything, and goodbye.

Two times wrong time and wrong date, its now the correct date and time...multitasking gets worse when you get older. lmao!

I changed asset cache settings. assets stored in s3 bucket and cached using squid.

in a month, 43.7 million requests with avg 2.8ms latency, but using over 70% inodes on root, which is a concern, so i moved cache directory to dedicated 1tb drive.

previous:

Percent Used: 43.75%
Filemap bits in use: 1179867 of 2097152 (56%)
Filesystem Space in use: 413762900/916656380 KB (45%)
Filesystem Inodes in use: 41617829/58391712 (71%)

current:

Percent Used: 27.37%
Filemap bits in use: 1181346 of 2097152 (56%)
Filesystem Space in use: 224359048/921816860 KB (24%)
Filesystem Inodes in use: 1189583/58720032 (2%)

inodes to 2% is a good improvement. I increased the size of RAM cache a bit from 32GB to 48Gb which should help decrease latency.

no assets were harmed during this production. hehe
