If you are genuinely hurt or affected by the abuse sent by such people then by all means block or do whatever you need to find some peace, I would never criticise anyone for that.
However, the hate will continue and grow as such things always do - so if you can, stand together as one to counter it - to expose it - to push back.
Because if no one does eventually they WILL end this platform and quite possibly push some poor soul to self harm or worse.
Mental illness is no justification for hate, nor is this place for medical intervention.
If someone did in the street what they do here, they would be arrested and charged and any sanction would be suspended while they got treatment.

Ich habe die Box nun in meinen Einstellungen deaktiviert, so kann der Spinner weiter herumpöbeln wie er meint, ich bekomme nichts mehr mit davon. Ich bezahle hier zwar mein Geld, aber da Satyr bis jetzt trotz Report nichts unternommen hat, denke ich das es ihm egal ist, weil er ja nur sein Geld als wichtig für sich ansieht. Ob aus meiner behördlichen Meldung was wird, weiß ich nicht. Die haben diesbezüglich ja viel mehr zu tun, schaut euch doch die Welt an, wie sie geworden ist. Euch allen einen schönen Tag.

OMG! I just read in the box again for the second time today. All the names have changed but the rants are the same. First off all, I'm sorry you're being targetted by this as well as so many others by this same individual. The unmoderated nature of this site is the problem. Sadly there will always be folks struggling with things and expressing in ways that make other people feel unsafe in places that are supposed to be safe and fun. This has been the case with every site where Opensim folks come together and honestly every kind of social media out there. But operators have to moderate. Both for the safety and well being people that are being attacked but also for the dignity of the person who clearly doesn't have a handle on how their mental health affects their behaviour. I have compassion for folks who struggle. Satyr isn't doing that person (in all their many accounts) any favours by allowing them to just continually perpetuate this and having people who want to engage in positive ways disengage out of frustration and trauma. This kind of thing has definately changed how and how much I use this site over the years too.

The solution is for a new system like the Beacon to be developed and a new, moderated website connected to it, like this site has. Then everyone could migrate to the new website that won't allow this stuff to happen. A few folks have tried to open websites with the purpose of keeping us connected and possibly replacing this one, but the main issue, they don't have a beacon that can be placed on people's land. We want the Beacon, and THAT is the main thing that is keeping OSW alive. If someone could actually implement this, then this site would die, and the new one would thrive. Especially if the money spent is more reasonable. I realize a lot of it goes to fees associated with having it up and online, but ...I don't know. Someone wiser than I and with the inclination could figure it all out. A Beacon is key tho. And the calendar.

You want server logs? You'll have to have them seized by Greek authorities. If Satyr keeps them around for long enough, that is.
You want decent moderation? You'll have to have Satyr ordered by court to implement it with a big fat "or else" that would really hurt him. That is, even then the "or else" is more likely than OSW getting moderation.

Threats of violence and death have never really stopped.
I counter him and am told to just block and ignore - hard when has so many other routes to use.
- and of course anyone I compliment then seems to be a target - standard behaviour.

Nico, I based my opinion on my own personal interactions with him and what he revealed up front to me. He wanted to join my grid. I exchanged a few emails with him during my vetting process, and he told me he had it as well as another condition. I wasn't going to hold that against him because he was polite, eager for an opportunity on my grid to be a DJ, and didn't exhibit the behavior we see here. It is only after I allowed him to join my grid that I started seeing him act up here on this site and realized I had been tricked, fooled, whatever, and was perplexed about how I was going to handle him. The problem solved itself when we were talking, a pleasant conversation actually, when it turned on a dime when I said something that set him off, and he said some sort of..I forgot an expletive and promptly logged off. I took the opportunity and closed his account and blocked him from the grid. He is hot and cold, and whatever condition he suffers from, he needs help. I hope he doesn't hurt himself or someone else.

In your preferences, make it so only friends can DM you. They can still come at you via groups but it reduces the random DM factor. It sucks that we need to stunt communication tools to use the site without incidents though.

Dorena, have you reported it? I have, and maybe if enough of us report it, we will finally be heard. Threatening to kill people crosses a hard line and needs to be dealt with. Someone having mental health issues is no excuse for this behavior. We need moderators for this site, and this guy needs to be banned from the site by any means available. The only way to fully and permanently ban this person from this site would be to ban them from ANYTHING in real life. International arrest warrant, track them down around the globe, alert local police, arrest them, convict them, lock them away.

You are doing exactly correct. In the US, these sort of threats are taken very seriously...or at least USED to be. Had a gf who was the director of career services at a major U in TX. A student threatened her over a text. She reported it to the FBI. They showed up at his on-campus job inside of 15 min. That ass may think he is protected through anonymity on this site, but his IP can easily be tracked. And I don't think that Interpol will FA with this. And as for the apologists that will cry about it, NO - women DIE over sh*t like this!

This bastard is most likely an American himself. He completely failed to recognise my German as German when he commented on one of my comments, so he is most likely a native English speaker who doesn't know jack shit about any foreign languages.

He is in the UK. He has Schizophrenia, by his own admission and proof of his behavior.

Clearly, the poor guy isn't under treatment, or it isn't helping or he is off of his medication, and he should not be allowed anywhere near a computer. Passion J was nothing but kind and concerned toward him all day in the box, and next thing we know, the guy is threatening to kill himself, and then his other personalities came in to inform everyone that the deed was done.
I know it is difficult for everyone to deal with him as he is clearly out of control. I am seriously concerned that he could indeed hurt himself. Even azzholes deserve to live. I know with the technology we have today, if the authorities in the UK cared enough, they could find him and get him the help that he needs. I really hope that happens. He isn't dead. We will see him in a few hours or days, well, actually, we are still seeing him because his other trolls are showing us he is alive and still ranting.
I hope he can get the help he needs, the medication that could help him, and find some peace. I imagine it can be terrifying living with his state of mind. I don't think he can help his behavior because he has no control over it due to his mental condition. It still isn't fair that we have to put up with it here, so something needs to be done. Mr Satyr needs to show some compassion for his community and the folks that pay good money to participate here...maybe inform the authorities of this guy's IP?

A clinical diagnosis like schizophrenia needs to be made by a clinician, and ethically can not be done without a personal interview with the client. That being said, and taking into account that I've been out of the field for quite some time now, I'd feel comfortable taking an educated guess and say that he does not show evidence of having that thought disorder. His claim to have it can be trusted as much as anything else he says, that is, not at all. Rather, he pretty clearly demonstrates narcissism, psychopathy, and sadism, which are personality, not though disorders, and commonly found in bullies.

I have some close friends with schizophrenia & my biological Mom & biological Sister both had that as well. Schizophrenia is a scary & extremely dangerous mental illness to have. It's scary because it takes control of your mind and you get hallucinations & become a totally different person opposite of who you really are in some cases. It's extremely dangerous when someone has it and is undiagnosed or off of there meds. They are suicidal which is a regular occurrence as one of the symptoms. They are not only a danger to themselves but a danger to others. They need to be hospitalized psychiatric hospitalization to regul ate the meds they need to take. They can lead a normal life IF they stay on there meds. Many schizophrenic get a sense of euphoria while on there meds making some feel invincible. While in this state of mind they no longer feel the need for the meds than stop taking them. This does two things to the person. #1. The abrupt stopping of there meds sends them into a tailspin not only bringing them into physically & mentally painful withdrawals but #2. also they become even more dangerous than if they had never been on the meds. Psychotropic meds are nothing to toy with. No meds are, but psycotropic meds are extremely dangerous if not used properly. These people need to be carefully handled with strongly guided care & much support while being strongly encouraged too continue their therapy & stay on there meds. Yes, we must put up with there behavior while waiting for something to be done by management, which is very sad to think about. What's even worse to think about is the reality of all of this is it's going to continue as the management of this site doesn't have a care in the world as to what goes on and/or what is being said here which is a crying shame, to say the least.
