Eine Band, die nicht nur Töne formte, sondern die Seele des Desert Rock destillierte und sie in eine neue, düstere und doch unwiderstehlich groovende Form goss. Angeführt von dem charismatischen und oft undurchsichtigen Josh Homme, begannen sie einen Kreuzzug gegen musikalische Konventionen, zogen eine Schneise der Verwüstung durch die Hörgewohnheiten und hinterließen ein Erbe, das so monolithisch ist wie die Felsen, aus denen sie einst krochen. Ihre Musik ist ein Cocktail aus treibenden Riffs, hypnotischen Rhythmen und Hommes unverwechselbarem Gesang – eine Mischung, die gleichermaßen betäubt und elektrisiert, wie ein Kaktusstachel, der tief ins Fleisch dringt, nur um ein Feuer in deinen Venen zu entzünden. Dann hebt sich der Kopf, und eine Stimme schneidet durch die Stille – mal nasaler Sprechgesang, mal souliger Gesang, immer unverwechselbar. Das ist Jan Delay. Mehr als nur ein Musiker, eine Figur, ein Phänomen, das seit Jahrzehnten die deutsche Musikszene prägt, herausfordert und verzaubert. Er ist das pulsierende Herz einer ständigen musikalischen Metamorphose, der Beweis, dass Stilbruch kein Risiko, sondern eine Revolution sein kann.
