Die Geschichte eines der einflussreichsten Musiker der Jazz-Fusion-Ära beginnt am 29. September 1942 in der malerischen Küstenstadt Avranches in Frankreich.
Jean-Luc Ponty wurde in eine Welt hineingeboren, in der Musik nicht nur ein Hobby, sondern die Luft zum Atmen war.
Sein Vater, ein geschätzter Geigenlehrer, und seine Mutter, eine Klavierpädagogin, legten das Fundament für eine Karriere,
die später die Grenzen der klassischen Musik sprengen sollte.
