migration begins! after about a year of running we're making some changes to assetd server. originally it stored assets in ipfs and kept local zstd compressed files on each region server. this burned up alot of drive space and 10 years down the road just isn't sustainable. So I'm getting rid of ipfs and storing all assets in s3 bucket. assetd pulls the assets on request, fixes broken ones if needed. with squid cache between assetd and opensim things are much faster. squid keeps current assets in ram for fast loading and stores less active assets in an optimized file structure. we can adjust the levels to increase ram and drive cache. i'm currently moving 2,583,234 assets into s3 bucket. after that's complete we just need to restart the grid, shouldn't be any downtime during the transfer though. on dev server assets load super fast. so we hope to have a better experience on holoneon grid in the next few days.

* News from Needful Things *

The renovation is largely complete; only a few buildings aren’t quite finished on the inside yet.

- The police station has been expanded to include a few jail cells as well as a visitor and interrogation room.
- “The Warm Mug” is a new small café in the center of the sim, featuring a few new items to copy
- The pet store has been expanded; the second floor now features aquariums with improved scripts
- The hotel has been enlarged and also includes new items to copy
- The selection at the “Figures” shop has been expanded to include several new mesh people for Sim decoration.

Since some buildings and shops have moved to different locations, you’ll find a note card at the landing point in the “Region Guide” terminal with the current list of buildings.

Der Umbau ist weitgehendst abgeschlossen, nur ein paar wenige Gebäude sind innen noch nicht ganz fertig.

- Das Polizeigebäude wurde um ein paar Gefängniszellen sowie einen Besucher- und Befragungsraum erweitert.
- "The Warm Mug" ist ein neues kleines Cafè in der Sim Mitte, mit ein paar Neuigkeiten zum Kopieren
- Die Tierhandlung wurde erweitert, im ersten Stock befinden sich nun Aquarien mit verbesserten Skripten
- Das Hotel wurde vergrößert und enthält ebenso neue Dinge zum Kopieren
- Das Sortiment im "Figures" Shop wurde um einige neue Mesh-Menschen zur Sim-Dekoration erweitert

Da manche Gebäude / Shops an einen anderen Platz umgezogen sind, findet ihr am Landepunkt im "Region Guide"-Terminal eine Notizkarte mit der aktuellen Auflistung der Häuser.

Modding the LouTan movement reactive hex dancefloor to no longer only react to stepping on it physically, but also when on solo and couple dance balls , huds, chimeras etc. Why is this challenging? sounds ez? Well, opensim and sl treat you as a ghost more or less when you are being animated. You are no longer a physical thing. While my enhancements are far from flawless, i feel it adds an extra level of realism and interest to an already super cool item. Found the original from Druskus and ZoneNations, i do believe. so all credit to him and them. I'm just trying to make it even cooler!
