Die Formation der Band Birth Control im Jahr 1966 in Berlin markierte den Beginn einer bemerkenswerten musikalischen Reise, die sich über Jahrzehnte erstrecken sollte. Aus den Vorgängerbands The Earls und The Gents hervorgegangen, legte diese Gruppe den Grundstein für eine der langlebigsten Karrieren in der deutschen Rockszene. Schon der Name „Birth Control“ war eine bewusste und provokante Wahl, die eine klare Stellungnahme gegen die Anti-Verhütungspolitik von Papst Paul VI. darstellte, insbesondere im Kontext seiner Enzyklika „Humanae Vitae“.
