I just caught up with the craziness about Lone stealing a floor from Marianna. Looks like she saw my post yesterday about our first monthly social with a picture of my Lotus Club on Luxor. it has a big circular dance floor with a blue arcane texture. I guess she assumed Lone stole that idea the day before yesterday's event and added to his Social region (which doesn't exist). That picture was from my Gala 6 months ago at the Lotus Club and which I built on Luxor a year ago. I have that same exact texture on one of my hypergates at Luxor. I have used that texture for years. I love arcane textures, especially on floors and ceilings - I have them on a floor in Castle Ceridwen and in my main store in the Magic and Mysteries room.

I'm just gonna drop this link here. The above image is from dreamstime.com, the watermarked one is not not useable in any form according to their license. A single use license is normally $25.00 but now on sale, for $23 a month. *cough cough*

Marianna's complaint was not that Lone stole her texture (she admitted that the dance floor she saw was a different texture but similar) but that he had stolen her idea of an arcane texture on a floor and used it on the dance floor for the social the day of the event. None of which was true. The picture in my original post was from the Gala I had at my club on Luxor 6 months ago, a club I built long before the idea of having a social on WTG was even born. My whole point in posting this picture was to show that I had been using arcane textures on all kinds of surfaces for years, and the idea did not come from anything she had created. Lone got caught in someone's terribly wrong assumption.
The texture above I purchased from Bigstock back in 2014 or earlier (my earliest use of it) when you could still buy single images. It came royalty free and I could do anything I liked with it, including using it on an item I sell, as long as I did not resell or distribute the texture by itself. I don't sell any of my textures. The only item I sell that includes it is a rune circle that has a menu to select multiple textures, so it is not the primary part of the build, and it is not a fast-moving item since I only sell one or two a year maybe. But now if someone wants this texture, it is only available through Dreamstime or any of the Shutterstock companies that operate on a subscription-only basis.

I've discussed my process and licensing multiple times on this forum, but I'll mention it again here since someone asked about it. Since I am a creator, I always try to respect creators' rights. I create about 80% of my own textures and those I don't create I buy in royalty-free / cco bundles. A very few that I can't buy I source from reputable sites like Textures.com with the correct licensing. Any mesh I do not create myself, especially historic statues, I buy or obtain from reputable sources and make sure those all have a commercial license, a copy of which I embed inside the mesh.
And yes, anyone can do exactly what I have done without buying my items, but not everyone has the time, inclination, or patience to do that. I personally am not interested in searching Opensim for anyone who may have duplicated one of my ideas. I am so very thankful to those patrons who regularly support my work. You enable and encourage me to keep creating.

How interesting that I got an email a little while ago from Ilan at Kitely that someone complained about one of my listings as not having the right license. Instead of referring to the license website I noted on the listing for the item, they presented a different 3d model website with a different license and told him I had no right to sell it. I simply pointed Ilan back to the listing and he was fine. That being said, there is no need for me to answer any more of your questions.

So, forgive me, but I'll say, "there's no need for me to respond here, Fred already did, and I think he covered everything..." Especially since you've shown a license regarding the many contents that YOU PROBABLY CAN'T RESALE and on which YOU CAN'T PROFIT, but you still do it anyway. Honesty, Lunaria, if you want to appear "healthy," at least try to be HONEST. :)

I have seen textures I've gotten from the internet and used, in different places all over open sim, and the reality is, none of those people who have those textures know me, neither have they visited my grid to see said textures so I cannot say they stole them from me when it is clearly obvious they did not. However, even if they did, it would be a compliment because it would mean they loved something I picked and used it, imitation is the highest form of compliment. If they found it on the internet and used it and it's the same texture I picked, well then, they have great taste. Blessings and much love!!

Of all this, I understood one thing for sure: Luna, a very skilled builder, sells items that simply rotate textures she found on the internet, which anyone could take for FREE, apply a script to, and make them rotate similarly.
Now I wonder, if I were to take the same texture from the internet for free, would you accuse me of stealing your texture?
And then, the usual discussion that also happens in SL, do these textures you take have a license for personal use or can you "resell" them and make a profit? Because many builders who accuse others of copybotting in SL actually sell 3D models that they couldn't sell, as the model's usage license is personal (if free) or goes up to 3 thousand dollars for resale (with a percentage going to the original creator). What do you do, Luna? Do you accuse me of copying the texture?
Do you have a license to sell a simple rotating texture for 250L$/G$ or something else? I'm asking out of genuine curiosity :)

Luna, well done. I know that when people tell lies about me and falsely accuse me of things, then vehemently deny it, it is infuriating, disheartening, and hurtful. Thank you for sharing the facts.

A nun with a gold-gilded statue of Buddha came to live at a small temple. There were many statues of Buddha at the temple, each with its own shrine. The nun wished to burn incense for her golden Buddha, but she did not like the idea of the perfume from her incense straying to the other statues. She made a funnel so the smoke from her incense was directed only to her statue. This blackened the nose of the golden Buddha, making it especially ugly.
