WolfViewer now draws its own sky on every Wolf Territories region: a real atmosphere, with 3D clouds you can see from below, from the side and from above. Press WE in the navigation bar to switch it on or off.

🌦️ Clouds that match the weather
Puffy cumulus low down, altocumulus in the middle, thin cirrus up high. When thunder is forecast, towering clouds build up kilometres tall. Regions tied to a real place get that place's real weather and real time of day.

✈️ The sky changes as you fly
Cross into another region, even far out over the sea, and its sky comes in over a few seconds.

🌠 Shooting stars on clear nights, and light that adapts like a camera between day and night.

🌧️ Choose your own weather
In the World menu, under Weather, pick rain, snow or fog for yourself, even when the region has its own weather.
Each region starts with its own weather when you arrive.

4 Fun and Active Years of the Dinkies!

On 2nd November, we will celebrate five wonderful years since the Dinkies came to life in OpenSim at the Funsize Dinkies World Resort!

What an amazing journey it has been so far! Four years filled with fun, laughter, friendship, adventures, and so many beautiful memories. And, of course, many more wonderful years are still to come!

As most of you know, the Dinkies Resort has moved a couple of times over these past four years, always searching for the perfect place to call home.

And now, the Funsize Dinkies have finally found their special home on LinkUp Grid, where many Dinkies have already been enjoying their wonderful lives since the grid first opened.

We are so happy to see our little community continue to grow, welcome new faces, make new friends, and create even more unforgettable memories together.
A huge thank-you to everyone who has been part of our journey over these four amazing years. Whether you have been with us since the very beginning or joined us along the way, you are all part of what makes the Funsize Dinkies World Resort such a special place!

Hi everyone. I have had a few people ask if we will upload IAR files to Wolf Territories from OSGRID. Unfortunately we have to protect the security of the grid so we will not be doing that at this time. However I'm pleased to say that region owners can upload OAR files, although we have a scanner that pre-scans OAR's. We are running a custom version of OpenSim called WolfSim that has many built in protections, including running on dotnet 10 rather than 8 like many grids, properly locked down servers running our WolfStack infrastructure software (https://wolfstack.org) etc. Plus users benefiting from our Viewers get added security,

We have removed some quite severe security vulnerabilities in Firestorm in our WolfViewer viewer that can run on any grid, but Wolf users get a lot of extra features. I wish everyone all the best with what is going on but that's where Wolf Territories is at the moment. Please PM me if you have any questions Lone Wolf in world, on discord or on this platform.

There is currently room for 30 individual gravesites , each measuring 64 × 64, where you can create your own memorial, design a unique resting place, or simply celebrate the memories and friendships you made in OSgrid.

Our friendly cemetery administrator, Toni Riga , will be happy to help you find your own parcel.

Everyone is welcome. No fees, no pressure — just a little place for memories, creativity, and friendship.

new OAR + IAR kiosk. we use wormhole for safe secure large file uploads (we support up to 100GB) . touch the kiosk in the Payments & Support center to upload your Oar or Iar file. You can download a wormhole GUI client or use the command line. Doesn't have to be on the same computer, you just need to enter the Wormhole code and we'll pull it.

Note: only one of each can be uploaded at a time. if you upload a second Oar or Iar it will replace the previous one. So you have to wait until it is loaded on grid if you have more files to upload.

Das Ende einer Ära: Warum OSgrid nach 19 Jahren den Betrieb einstellt

19 Jahre lang war OSgrid mehr als nur ein Server oder eine Plattform. Es war ein digitales Grenzland, das auf einer radikalen Grundidee beruhte: dass ein offenes, dezentrales Metaverse allein durch Gemeinschaft, Vertrauen und eine gemeinsame Architektur florieren kann. Heute muss der Vorstand von OSgrid mit tiefem Bedauern das Ende dieser Reise verkünden. Wir beenden das Projekt offiziell.

Dieses Grid wurde weder von der Zeit noch durch mangelndes Engagement des Teams besiegt, das das Projekt über das letzte Jahrzehnt hinweg vorangetrieben hat. Es wurde systematisch von einem böswilligen Akteur zerstört, der unsere Kernphilosophie gegen uns wandte. Indem er genau jene Freiheit ausnutzte, die uns ausmachte – unser offenes Code-Framework –, löste er einen IAR-Prozess aus, der unsere Architektur mit riesigen Mengen zufälliger, nicht deduplizierbarer Daten überflutete. Die technische Realität ist unumkehrbar. In weniger als einem Jahr wuchs unser über die Zeit gewachsener Asset-Server von 5 TB auf 17 TB an (wovon 80 % mittlerweile Datenmüll sind). Unsere Tabelle für Inventargegenstände explodierte von 3 GB auf lähmende 139 GB, wodurch routinemäßige Datenbank-Backups von 10 Minuten zu einer 12-stündigen Tortur wurden. Unsere Assets sind faktisch „vergiftet“.

Wir standen vor einer entscheidenden Wahl. Der einzige Weg, diese Angriffe zu stoppen und die Datenbank zu sichern, bestünde darin, unsere Infrastruktur zu schließen und zu einem geschlossenen, kommerziellen Modell überzugehen. Ein solcher Schritt würde das offene Ethos, auf dem dieses Grid ursprünglich aufgebaut wurde, vollständig zunichtemachen. Keiner unserer technischen Mitarbeiter ist bereit, ein kommerzialisiertes, abgeschottetes System („Walled Garden“) zu betreiben. Das ist schlichtweg nicht das, wofür sich irgendjemand hier engagiert hat. Das auf der letzten Sitzung vorgeschlagene Gebührensystem war zwar ein Schritt, um dieses Problem effizienter zu bekämpfen, doch um die Angriffe wirklich zu beenden, müssten wir das Grid dauerhaft abriegeln. Wir weigern uns, die Seele und das Modell von OSgrid zu opfern, nur um den Betrieb irgendwie aufrechtzuerhalten. Täglich elf Stunden im Schichtdienst damit zu verbringen, Angriffe abzuwehren und vergiftete Daten zu bereinigen, ist als ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit nicht mehr tragbar. Wir haben über die Jahrzehnte viele Arten von Angriffen überstanden und abgewehrt, doch die Entropie hat letztlich gesiegt. Als der Vorstand gestern diese endgültige Entscheidung traf, saßen bei Hurliman Menschen am Tisch, die zusammen auf über 80 Jahre Metaverse-Erfahrung zurückblicken. Wir sind nicht bloß Administratoren, die einen Server abschalten; wir sind Veteranen dieses Grids, die mit ansehen müssen, wie unsere eigene Geschichte – genau wie eure – in Flammen aufgeht. An unsere 153.000 registrierten Nutzer: Wir wissen genau, was diese Auslöschung bedeutet. Ihr habt euch hier nicht nur eingeloggt. Ihr habt eine Gemeinschaft aufgebaut. Fast zwei Jahrzehnte lang habt ihr programmiert, gestaltet und in diesen Regionen gelebt. Eine Datenbank zu löschen bedeutet mehr als nur das Entfernen von Dateien – es ist, als würde man digitale Zuhause mit Bulldozern dem Erdboden gleichmachen, tägliche Verbindungen kappen und ein absolut einzigartiges Kapitel der Internetgeschichte begraben. Die Schwere dieses Verlusts ist absolut. Wir gehen nicht leichten Herzens; wir tragen diesen Schlag gemeinsam mit euch an vorderster Front, denn die technische Realität dieser „vergifteten“ Architektur ließ uns keine andere Wahl.

Leider müssen wir euch mitteilen: Die Dienste von OSgrid werden am 31. Dezember 2026 um Mitternacht eingestellt.

Wir laden euch ein, ein letztes Mal mit uns zusammenzukommen. Am kommenden Sonntag, dem 18., findet um 11:00 Uhr am Hurliman Plaza eine letzte Mitgliederversammlung statt.

Neue Registrierungen sind nicht mehr möglich, und alle früheren Pläne wurden abgesagt und widerrufen. Auch wenn Auktionen in dieser Phase völlig deplatziert wirken mögen, wäre es noch schlimmer, die enorme Arbeit, die die Community in diese Bauwerke gesteckt hat, einfach zu verwerfen. Damit werde ich wohl auch mein dasein hier in der digitalen Welt beenden. Es sind ja noch ein paar Wochen die ich genießen werde, aber zu einem Neuanfang habe ich keine richtige Lust mehr.
Vielleicht ergibt sich ja noch etwas, doch bei meinem Glück wohl eher nicht.
Schade das es so kommt, aber anderer seits verstehe ich es auch. Die Arbeit wird immer mehr und das alles in der Freizeit ist schon heftig.

Hello, dear homeless OSgrid residents!

At the end of December 2026, an era is expected to come to an end: OSgrid is likely to shut down. Over the past few days, many residents have already contacted me looking for a new place to call home.

There is still plenty of space available on Tartaria , and we expect to be able to offer around 10 more parcels. However, Tartaria will be moving to my own grid at the end of December.

We already have several lovingly designed regions. Anula is located at the very top of the large map. It is still largely undeveloped, offering plenty of room for new ideas. Additional parcels will also become available there soon.

There is no need to rush. We still have more than two months until the end of December — enough time to bring the right people together and build something wonderful.

To those in OS Grid that have a rental here, when you migrate to a new grid. Send me a message in world of what land number you had and your os username. I will reset it so your new avi can re rent it. or you can refund it and then have the new avi rent it.

All of us at My Virtual beach are devastated of the news of OS Grid. I wish there was something I/we could do.

I cant believe after all these years one person could trash a whole grid like that.

When I first came to opensim OS grid was the first place i got stuff for my suitcase (inventory) I have met a lot of friends in OS Grid over the years. The time i have spent in LBSA PLaza will always be cherished and missed. OS Grid was my first for a lot of things.

I have learned so much for a lot of people in OS Grid.

I honestly believe this is a tragedy of heartbreaking proportions. 💔

The thought that someone could deliberately cause this kind of devastation to a grid that has been part of the OpenSim community for 19 years fills me with an anger and sadness that I can hardly put into words.

This hits far below the belt—not only for the residents of OSGrid, but especially for the administrators and developers who have worked so hard, year after year, to keep this grid alive through every challenge, setback, and technical difficulty they have faced. To the OSGrid admins and developers, I applaud you. I honor your dedication, your perseverance, and every effort you have made to keep this community going. You deserved better than to have your years of hard work put at risk in this way.

I am grieving over this. Yes, grieving! Because behind every avatar, every region, every creation, and every corner of a virtual world are real people who have invested their time, their energy, their creativity, and their hearts. Many have volunteered countless hours to help build and sustain a community they believed in. Their efforts matter. Their contributions matter. And the people behind them matter!

If the reported actions were deliberate, then I find it absolutely heartbreaking that someone's desire to cause harm could reach a point where the infrastructure supporting an entire community is put in jeopardy. Nineteen years of history, dedication, friendships, and shared experiences are not something to take lightly. OSGrid has been an important part of the OpenSim story, and the possibility of losing it is devastating.

What I struggle to understand is WHY.

Why do disagreements have to escalate into destruction? Why can't people walk away from a disagreement without trying to hurt others? Why spread rumors, turn people against one another, encourage griefing, or drag innocent members of a community into personal conflicts? And why would anyone ever think that damaging an entire grid is an acceptable response to a grievance?

If someone has a problem with another person, there are ways to address it. There are ways to disagree, to speak up, to walk away, and to seek resolution. But deliberately inflicting harm on an entire community—if that is what has happened—is not a solution. It is devastation that reaches far beyond the person one might be angry with.

And who ultimately pays the price? The innocent residents. The creators. The volunteers. The administrators and developers who have given so much of themselves. The people who simply wanted a place to build, explore, socialize, and enjoy the world they helped create.

THAT is what breaks my heart.

I am angry. I am deeply saddened. I am dismayed that something so destructive could threaten a community with such a long history. I cannot pretend that this doesn't hurt, because it does. And my heart goes out to everyone who has made OSGrid a part of their lives over these many years.

To the people of OSGrid, please know that your time, your creativity, your friendships, and your contributions have not been meaningless. Whatever happens next, those nineteen years cannot simply be erased from the lives of the people who shared them. The memories, the skills learned, the things created, and the friendships formed are part of your stories, and they still matter.

To the OSGrid administrators and developers: THANK YOU. Thank you for your years of service, your persistence, and your willingness to keep working through the difficult times. You have my sincere respect and heartfelt sympathy.

And to whoever may be responsible for deliberately causing this reported damage, I hope you understand the human cost of what your actions may have done. This is so much bigger than a personal disagreement or a desire for revenge. Real people are hurting. A community is grieving. Years of volunteer effort deserve respect, not destruction.

I pray that the truth will come to light, that those affected will find support and strength, and that the OpenSim community will respond to this painful moment with compassion, wisdom, and solidarity rather than more hostility.

**This is heartbreaking. This is devastating. And it is a reminder that behind every virtual world are real human beings whose hearts, efforts, and friendships deserve to be treated with care.** 💔
