THE INIQUITOUS FUN FAIR — An OpenSim Story

What a crazy time we live in. The news cycle shows you a town in crisis while HIDING the story which should get coverage. But here in OpenSim, we have a Virtual Town in Crisis; that is... THE REAL STORY... and all of you are invited.

Dismayland exists because of worldly conflict. It was inspired by Banksy, whose art has always held a mirror to the absurd. As an NPC enthusiast, I found a wellspring of ideas to draw from, even without seeing the original exhibit in person. My thought was simple: What if theme parks were truly honest with their customers?

As a Florida resident within driving distance of every major theme park... and well aware of the drama surrounding them... this scenario was too good to pass up. Everything here is fictitious, but loosely based on reality in ways that will be obvious only to those who follow local news. Take that for what you will.

What we have here is a Digital Virtual Novel you can explore. Leave your worries behind. Enjoy a nonsensical portrayal of the ridiculous... because that is what entertainment is. Nothing that happens here influences the outside world, as someone was kind enough to point out. What is a virtual novel without plot twists, corruption and some intrigue?

Enter the Dismayland Scavenger Hunt.

Dirty Helga and I were brainstorming maddening additions for Dismayland. I reject most of what Hollywood produces these days, so I turned to older films for inspiration. I have seen scavenger hunts before but they were far too easy. I wanted something epic.. something outright crazy, yet honestly solvable.

What emerged: a game board that remotely renames objects, a separate script that deploys roaming 'sploder' drones dropping clues, deceitful NPCs, misdirection, MISINFORMATION and a cow being abducted by aliens who holds nothing but contempt for that insufferable game board. All of these elements were already present in Dismayland. I just needed code to make it all work together... and that is where the turpitude of Dirty Helga shines. Nobody knows the lore better than her, and she was instrumental in stitching it all together.

There will always be some politics in OpenSim. My plan is to keep whatever exists here specific to the grid... not reality. When you're ready for your ESCAPE, The Iniquitous Fun Fair awaits.

The scripts alone speak for themselves. It is dark, creepy, funny and lots of fun.

I had a chance to check out his new ScavHunt game. The past few days I have spent hours in his region just playing that game and trying to win it which I eventually did. Maybe with a little help lol. It is one of those games that keeps you on the edge.

The region is like walking through a bad nightmare but in a cool twisted way that you get curious enough to check it out.

His mind created things that I would have never guessed you could even do in opensim. The detail, the music, the afterlife the insanity lol. It is a great region.

We had our fun.

Dorena was kept very busy with it, and she had a pleasant way to spend the day, seems she loves drama!
I am not particularly impressed by the threatening messages regarding legal action that I received. She has no case.

Unfortunately, knowing Dorena, all of this will not mean that she stops making nonsensical political statements on our OpenSim platform. It seems she is already busy again with an alt account, Sylvester.

My actions were intended to make clear that many people on this platform are completely fed up with her nonsense.
Who knows, maybe she will mend her ways someday ;)

I am extremely pleased and excited to announce that I have obtained a license (and yes for those of you that may know this, I confirmed it today for sharing with the community--which is YOU , as an amateur) for KDU. For those that don't know what that means...it is well-- some of you said firestorm still looks a bit better than my work..well it is because of OpenJpg having to be used in opensim. The story is extremely long, it falls like star wars..long ago in a galaxy far away..I don't mind chatting with you about it, though, so say hello if you want to. KDU is the texture library firestorm uses. I wrote them and got the license for 150 dollars! I also added a zoom to whatever object is selected for editing. Puffins are charasmatic birds; sometimes nicknamed the clowns of the sea. While globally they're not classified as endangered they are vulnerable to extinction they suffer declining populations due to climate change and food shortages related to overfishing. It should be noted that European Puffins are listed as endangered. Pollution, oil spills, hunting and invasive predators are all factors in this.
