One of the things I love about Devil's Fork is that it is a unique town. Almost every building in the town was built by me, for better or worse. :) What you see here is one side of a 4-store block with a 5th shop on one end. This is an old build I recently remodeled. These are my favorite shops in the town, Star Magik Has a few things made by me, but mostly tons of things I have found in OS and you can get a copy of most things in the shop. What to do if you missed out on vivox voice? Well. There is a free program for windows/linux/mac called mumble. It has 2 parts. a program that you run as a small server, and a program that you run as a client. Mumble currently supports over 30 games, including such games as call of duty with an overlay plugin. An overlay plugin is not yet developed for opensimulator, however... You can just run the mumble server, then you and your friends can download the mumble client on their mac, linux box, or windows pc, and they can easily connect to your mumble server. Once everyone is on your mumble server they can type chat to each other, or talk voice to each other over their microphone. The game overlay part just adds additional features to the game, so that it appears your voice is coming from a specific location, rather than being ubiquitous. If you have any questions on how to set up your own private voice server, please msg me, and I will help you. :)

Lets have a great Kick off the Weekend Party.
I like to drop a post every now and then on another virtual universe I'm involved in developing, with a working name of Starlite Galaxies. It's a user-content generated world like SL and Opensim, but not based on their code. A complete new game engine has been written from the ground up in proprietary codebase using C++, utilizing the Vulkan API instead of OpenGL. The universe will not be compatible with opensim code, but we are discussing a bridge option down the road to allow opensim users to visit. The game is currently approaching alpha testing for which all slots are filled.
The top shot is a helmet readily available on 3D model sites that we use to test our handling of PBR materials and shaders. This one is reflecting the environment we dropped it in and running at 4910 fps on full blast graphics using a GeForce 3060 card (I believe this is the same helmet visible in the recent SL tutorial on their version of PBR)
The bottom image is an asteroid field with 50,000 physical objects all orbiting a central mass independently of one another. We wanted to find a breaking point, but only got the fps down to 720 fps.
We also are testing on a variety of lower end machines to find baselines for the graphics and physics. But if you want to go full-bore gaming using VR, controllers, joysticks, flight-sim equipment, etc., then all of that capability is already there and working. Probably would only want to use VR with your feet on the ground. We found flying ships in VR was...unsettling.

Phantom Rose Bayou Region Adventure Quests: Vampire Hunter and Demon Hunter! To start your journey, take a map at the Bayou Landing area, then head towards the SeaDog Pub. Take the east road out of the City. Look for the Ship just before the river. The parcel is "Passage to Van Helsing". When you land at Van Helsing, you will see the Quest Giver, a display of the Quest Reward and free gifts of a Vampire Hunter Kit and a Demon Hunter Kit. The kits have a display box, plus wearables. The Demon Hunter Holy Water actually sprays water at the Demons! These are dangerous assignments. Do you have the courage to stake a Vampire or send at Demon back to hell?
