I too join in the condolences for Luna. I was completely shocked when I read this. She was a good friend and always gave me tips on how I could improve or could do it better. We had many intense conversations. I will miss her. Rest in peace!

🌹 Memorial Note for Luna Lunaria

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Luna Lunaria, a beloved friend, visionary creator, and cherished member of our community.

Just two days ago, Luna left us suddenly due to a massive heart attack, leaving all who knew them in shock and sorrow.

Luna was the heart behind Lunaria’s Emporium and Luxor, stores that became cornerstones in OpenSim. Through these creations, countless people found joy, inspiration, and connection. Luna’s work was more than commerce—it was artistry. From buildings to intricate items, every creation carried a spark of imagination and care that made them unforgettable.

What set Luna apart was not only extraordinary talent but also a profound dedication to others. Customers were never just buyers; they were valued friends. Luna always ensured that each person felt cared for, listened to, and delighted with what they received. This compassion, paired with creative brilliance, made Luna a living legacy in every sense.

Luna’s presence will be deeply missed, but the legacy lives on in the worlds built, the communities touched, and the memories shared. To all who adored Luna and their creations, may we carry forward that same spirit of creativity, kindness, and connection.

All of us at Virtual Beach are devasted with much grief at the news of Lunas passing. We at Virtual Beach would like to extend our condolences to all of wolf grid, its members and her family.

I was saving all my gloebit for her store. She is so talented and her builds helped made my regions look better among the other talented creators.

There will be place at Virtual Beach memorial gardens for her with permission i was given.

I am in tears and devastated, if I could trade my gloebit to bring her back I so would give them all to god.

If anyone needs anything or wants to talk I am here for all.

We are in shock this morning as our wonderful Luna Lunaria, for whom Wolf had become her home, has passed. We will not be taking her regions down unless instructed to do so. They are some of the most incredible, beautiful regions in OpenSim. We'll just leave them where they are and we'll be placing a memorial at our Memorial region today. Exploring Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is not simply a virtual landscape but an entire world sculpted from imagination, shimmering snow, and the warmth of holiday spirit. Entering the region feels like stepping through a frosted gateway into a place where every element—every drifting snowflake, every echo of laughter, every sparkle on the ice—invites visitors to rediscover childhood wonder. From glistening skating plazas to the legendary North Pole itself, Winter Wonderland offers an experience rich with movement, magic, and festive charm.

The journey typically begins at the Crystal Lake Ice Rink, a vast oval of frozen perfection surrounded by towering pines powdered with snow. Soft music rings through the crisp air, encouraging skaters of all skill levels to glide, spin, or wobble across the glasslike surface. The rink’s edges are lined with twinkling lights, making the entire scene glow with a soft, wintry radiance. You can see families linking hands as they attempt a synchronized glide, couples tracing figure-eights side by side, and solo adventurers testing new twists and daring leaps. The soundscape is an uplifting blend of scraping blades, bubbling laughter, and the occasional joyful shriek as someone regains their balance just in time. It’s a place where movement feels effortless, and the cold seems to energize rather than chill.

Beyond the rink lies the Snowmobile Ridge—a thrilling expanse built for speed and excitement. Snowmobiles of every size and color wait neatly in rows, each one equipped with sleek handlebars and engines that hum with anticipation. Riders follow winding trails carved into the hills, racing past icicle-encrusted cliffs, drifting through tunnels of snow-dusted branches, and launching over gentle slopes that provide just the right amount of breath-catching lift. Whether cruising leisurely or speeding toward a horizon tinged with violet winter light, visitors experience an exhilarating blend of freedom and festive adventure. The chill of wind rushing past one’s face mingles delightfully with the cozy glow from cabins scattered along the ridge, offering warm drinks and a place to thaw before the next ride.

Yet the true heart of Winter Wonderland lies in the North Pole, home to Santa’s legendary workshop. Approaching the North Pole feels like entering the center of holiday myth itself. Giant candy-cane pillars rise on either side of a wide, snowy path. Multicolored lights twinkle along rooftops shaped like oversized gingerbread houses, their chimneys puffing out clouds of peppermint-scented steam. Reindeer tracks crisscross the snow, leading toward a fenced corral where the famous herd occasionally peeks curiously at visitors.

The workshop is a bustling hive of magical activity. Inside, the air smells of cinnamon, pine, and freshly sawed wood. Conveyor belts carry half-constructed toys; gears, ribbons, and tiny mechanical parts fill the room with a gentle clatter. And everywhere—absolutely everywhere—elves can be seen. These cheerful workers, clad in bright greens and reds, are constantly in motion: hammering, painting, wrapping, organizing. But they’re not all business. Some elves can’t resist their mischievous impulses, sneaking outside to engage in spirited snowball matches. Snowballs fly across the courtyard in glittering arcs, bursting into powder upon impact. Others twirl and dance in choreographed routines, stamping tiny boot prints into the snow as they spin to jolly tunes.

Just beyond the workshop lies perhaps the most whimsical attraction of all: the Snowmen Collection, a floating assembly of snow sculptures drifting atop large, gently bobbing icebergs. Each snowman has a unique personality—some tall and stately, others short with round, jolly faces. Many are adorned with scarves, hats, lanterns, or even little carved instruments. They sway softly on their icy platforms, creating a surreal parade that shifts slowly with the water’s movement. Visitors often hop from iceberg to iceberg, careful but delighted, taking in the artistry and charm of each snowman. At times, the snowmen appear to communicate through subtle changes in posture or expressions carved by the frosty air. Under moonlight, the entire collection glows faintly, as though illuminated from within, turning the area into a quiet, dreamlike sanctuary.

Winter Wonderland is more than a collection of virtual attractions; it is an emotional landscape. It evokes nostalgia while inviting creativity, balancing exhilarating activity with cozy comfort. Whether one is racing down the slopes, drifting among snowmen, joining the elves’ joyful chaos, or simply watching snowflakes fall against the gentle glow of distant lights, the region offers a sense of peace paired with boundless delight.

About the newest Firestorm Viewer: I want to love it, but I don't. I really do love PBR materials and they show up just fine with the new viewer and they seem to have fixed the blurry, out of focus view when you move around in-world. Problem is, Animesh. I have to be right on top of the animesh to see it move. Koshari and I were in-world tonight and couldn't see any animesh moving unless we were right next to them and even then they seemed to lag out a bit. We both changed our viewer to the old, pre PBR viewer 6.6.17 and could see the animesh moving from all the way across the sim. My guess is that, because you are constantly rendering PBR textures in-world, they decreased the animation visibility to compensate for it. Until Firestorm gives us a toggle, slider, or patch to bring back proper animation distance, sticking with 6.6.17 is the smart move. The PBR viewer is beautiful, but not worth sacrificing functional animesh. That's a hard pass for me
Anyone have thoughts on this? Does anyone have any inside scoop on whether they plan on fixing this.

“Animation culling” is basically the viewer deciding not to bother updating animations for things that are “too far away” or “not important enough.”

Think of it as Firestorm saying:
“Hmm… you’re 40 meters away from that animesh? Yeah, I’m not wasting CPU cycles on making it dance. Freeze frame it is.”

More technically:

Animation Culling = Distance-Based Animation Shutdown

The viewer stops updating animations on avatars or animesh once they’re beyond a certain distance or priority threshold.
Instead of actually animating them, it just shows the last frame and saves performance.

Why viewers do it

To reduce:

CPU load

GPU load

Network updates

Overall rendering cost

In the PBR viewer, the rendering pipeline is heavier (PBR = shiny but hungry), so the viewer culls animations more aggressively.
What is the point of animesh if it only animates when you’re making out with it?
