The Sun Voyager, or "Sólfarið," is a stainless steel sculpture in Reykjavik that symbolizes the sun, exploration, and new beginnings. It was designed by Jón Gunnar Árnason (1931-1989), who drew inspiration from a Drakkar Viking ship for the project, and it's one of the most visited attractions in Iceland's capital!

Each year, we do a multi language conference to celebrate all that's good, challenging, and fun about Opensim. This year it will be April 5 and 6... more about that in coming weeks! Along with the speakers and art events in several languages, most of you probably know there's also a big Expo park that opens before the event so you can explore and learn about your fellow opensimmers. Everyone can make a booth for this expo - the deadline of Jan 31 but let Thirza know if you're running late, we'll save you a space!
Many of you (like Bloom Peters, her booth show in in the photo) have already modded the basic Expo Booth, and passed it to Thirza on OSGrid for placement in the park, but if you haven't done so yet, don't delay!

Some good news. I compiled Firestorm 7.1.10 PBR, and it doesn't crash every single time I teleport. There is light at the end of the tunnel with the next release. Photo included of me not f***ing crashing. yay! :D

Unsere Feierlichkeiten umfassen außergewöhnliche Veranstaltungen und Themenwochen, die die Vielfalt und den einzigartigen Charme der Sims würdigen, die in den letzten vier Jahren entstanden sind.

Motto: "Vielfalt ist unsere Freude: Respekt verbindet uns"
Teilnahme: Jedes Grid kann teilnehmen, bunte Wagen bauen oder sich als Jurymitglied bewerben, um die besten Kreationen auszuzeichnen. Zu gewinnen gibt es u.a. kleine Geldbeträge.
Shows: Bink Draconia präsentiert ein Männerballet, und Lampithaler mit einer Regenbogenshow zur Musik von Reyno Parx.
Aftershow-Party: Mit erstklassigen DJs.
Anmeldung: Bitte meldet euch bis spätestens 15. September. Weitere Infos findet ihr in der Regenbogenparade-Infobox Inworld.
13. Oktober: Geburtstags-Go-Kart-Rennen
Teilnahme: Jedes Grid kann zwei Fahrer ins Rennen schicken. Die Strecke kann im freien Training kennengelernt werden.
Event: Nach der Siegerehrung gibt es ein Konzert von SarahMarie Phillis und eine Go-Kart-Race-Party mit DJ Marlon.
Infoabend: Am 9. August veranstaltet Karsten Runningbear einen Infoabend zum bevorstehenden Go-Kart-Rennen. Die Einladung und weitere Details findet ihr Inworld in der Infobox: Pangea Go-Kart-Rennen.

Needful Things has been enriched by a small attraction: every visitor can start the small show themselves by clicking on the writing on the floor (sounds must be activated in the viewer!).
For all those who get carried away by the little concert, there is a free HUD with audience animations to take away in the boxes in front of the truck....

Just to be clear, I have always pursued my own ideas in my work and have never been interested in replicating what others have done. Because of that my work is easily identifiable wherever it is on the hypergrid. So when I heard that I had stolen someone else's idea for a dance floor I laughed. Pictured above is an event at my Aeroclub on July 13th, 2018 on Bill Blight's old grid (OpensimLife), now gone since he retired. I was using arcane textures on dance floors even back then. When I built the Lotus Club early last year on Luxor I created a similar dance floor because that's what I liked. And no, it would never bother me that someone else got a similar idea on their own. I remember when Essensual bought my Grand Ballroom then invited me over to see it. She had completely remodeled it into a gorgeous Art Deco style. I could still see my objects and textures but I loved how she creatively rearranged everything and added in some of her own textures. That's the way it should be in Opensim.
